I reserved two nights for my husband and myself to tour Charleston, SC. However I became very sick and needed to cancel the second night. I was told that I could not get a refund for the second night. I don't think I will be staying at the Hilton Inn again.

This was the first time I stayed at this location. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. I had an issue with the lighting in the bathroom and the maintenance crew came right up to fix it. The young lady at the desk followed up to make sure that it was taken care of. Great staff and would recommend this location.

We arrived at 10:15pm on Friday to check in. I will also add that it was a very cold & windy 30 degrees.
Since we reserved a pet friendly room, we were instructed to use a particular entrance.
We drove around the building to the pool entrance, unloaded our pet and all our luggage, got to the door and our keycard would not allow us access. We hauled everything back to the car (my husband was livid) and went to the front desk once again. The clerk simply said "Oh, I forgot that entrance was locked." and she instructed us to use an entrance on the other side and rear of the building. Not a good way to start out our stay.
Another issue for us was that when the heat in our room was on, the room was comfortable. When it cycled off, we could actually feel a very cold breeze coming through either the sliding doors or the heater vents. When we tried to adjust the heat to compensate, the room got entirely too hot. We didn't alert the staff though because we had reserved the only pet friendly room available so assumed there was no remedy.
We also felt the pricing could be more competitive, however, we were traveling with our small dog and felt there was little option for us.
On a positive note, we really appreciated the belt loop doggy bags that they offered (nice touch!) and the fact that they offered pet friendly rooms in the first place as they are hard to find.
The complimentary breakfast was adequate and appreciated as well. We opted to get "to go" plates and dine in our room as we watched the morning news.

My wife and I had a great stay recently and most of it was due to care and attention by the all of the staff. Everyone was very freindly and helpful. I would recomend this location to anyone. It was very close to downtown and in a good neighborhood.

The photos on the website were misleading. This hotel does not offer a nice view of the harbor or river; however it is in a desirable location, close to the harbor and to the downtown district. The hotel decor was dated. On a positive note, the hotel staff were very friendly and the beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was rather small with not a lot of counter space. The second day I noticed that there was dried food and trash on the floor after the room had been cleaned. Honestly, I believe that you can find other hotels in this city that are comparable in price and amenities but nicer and more updated. We are priority club members and have stayed in many Holiday Inn Expresses but this one was a little disappointing!

We arrived late at night with two dogs and found our room ready, and near the dog walk which was much appreciated. The mattresses on the beds are exceptional!
During the night I developed a sudden health problem. The concierge helped book a taxi to the local ER. When I returned in the morning after breakfast had been put away a sweet woman from the kitchen crew packed up a lovely little meal for us to carry on the road. I was touched by the caring manner of staff. They went above and beyond.

Me and my wife stayed here for new years. They failed to tell us that the last trolley to downtown did not actually take us into downtown where everything is! Its new years eve, by this time you cant hardly get a taxi so we drove which kept us from having the fun we planned. Then we get back, the mattress was as hard as a rock. At first I thought maybe it was just fireworks, but it was mixed with actual gun shots coming from the not so nice side of town neighboring the hotel. I shoot regularly so I know. This went off and on until 5am. I normally stay in downtown or in Mt. Pleasant. Those are the only places I will stay, EVER! I will not stay here again!!

Fabulous breakfast buffet with wonderful staff, making sure everyone had what they wanted....better then other hotels have stayed in. Convenient to downtown, via shuttle service.

We have a pet cat who travelled with us all the time. This hotel provide some treats and accessory for your pet when you check-in. They also provide pet information, such as pet park, pet hospital and pet-friendly restaurant. It's a very pleasant stay for a pet owner.
The hotel breakfast is fantastic as well. Overall, I will recommend this hotel.

Stayed in adjoining rooms, (parents in one, 3 adult sisters in other,) while our Mom had surgery at MUSC. We could not be more pleased with our stay. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, tasty breakfast bar, shuttle to and from hospital. Thank you for making a stressful time sooo much easier!

We stayed at your hotel for our sons graduation from the Navy Nuclear School in Goose Creek. We were greeted by your friendly front desk people and they were extremely knowledgable. Helped us with finding our way around downtown Charleston. The trolley service was fantastic. Our room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. I have had 5 back surgeries and have trouble sleeping in hotels but not here. Slept like a baby. The breakfast was very good. Biscuits & gravy were the best. The only thing that needs to be addressed is the exhaust fan in the bathroom. Very noisy and could not be turned off without turning the light off. Other than that we had a great time and love your city.

Great location, great value for this close to downtown. You can take the trolley downtown or short drive down Lockwood and park. Staff is excellent. Rooms are great. Breakfast very good, cinnamon rolls excellent! It is a much better deal cost wise than other places this close to downtown Charleston. Much better value than the regular Holiday Inn and no mandatory parking charge. Near the Ashley River, the marina, and a park. Good place!!!

We stayed at this location 1 night. Everything was fine but would be better if there was a light outside of the mirrored closet doors so you could see in the mirrors better. A second luggage rack would have also been helpful.

We stayed for 3 nights. The room was ´ample, clean, with 2 double beds as booked, with river view´ as a bonus. The bathroom was rather small, but, I´d rather have a large sleeproom than bathroom. Plus, when towels were left hanging (you know, supposedly the sign they need not to be changed), they were not changed indeed (quite exceptional). Beds were very comfy (nice!). The welcome upon arrival as ´IHG reward member (although receptionist was more than busy) - after a long drive from Richmond area - was really pleasant and a good omen and start. Breakfast room was large enough thanks to ´overflow´ room, with once more pleasant staff (daily requests for hot chocolate drinks for the kids were granted without fuzz). Customers were quite disciplined and well-behaved as well, which helps :-) . Location was very good, with an unexpected Charleston public shuttle just in front of the hotel. Location is also great if you plan to visit the plantations (a must) as the hotel is just at the bridge leading to it. Parking was never a problem. Oh yes, the outdoor pool might be a bit chilly in winter time, but you can try (it´s open). Finally, Wifi-signal is strong enough in the room, and so was the coffee and tea.

The hotel was used as a layover for our cruise the next day. It was a couple minutes drive from the historic district. I was told that there was a free bus service that took you to the historic district also, but we did not use it. Everything was clean and fresh. In addition, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the area. It was nice to see that the parking, breakfast and business center were included at no additional fee.

Great, clean hotel for a quick overnighter - Not walking distance to much so if you are looking for a more touristy hotel I wouldn't recommend this location, but it was a great price and great breakfast. Very friendly staff.

This was the third HI Express we stayed in on this trip. We were most pleased with the location and the convenient free nearby tram service to the old town. The staff, service, hotel cleanlines were excellent. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were the best we have experienced in any HI hotel we stayed in. Kudos to the person(s) who prepared them - Carolyn, Elaine & Janni, I think? One minor point, we found the heater/air conditioner unit a bit noisy and running frequently with brief interludes.

Room was sad. Bed was very high off the floor. Parts were missing on the door jambs. Could not close the door on closet as it was not deep enough to accommodate clothes on hangars. Floor was uneven due to settling. Need I say more?

Room was very nice and clean. Plenty of towels and washcloths which is not always the case in other places we have stayed.
My only complain is that the mattress was way too hard for me.
The staff gave us an excellent tip for a restaurant which was fabulous.
We would stay here again.

The staff was great. The front desk was helpful from everything concerning take out food, to how to handle the free trolley. The breakfast staff was really helpful. I left my purse on the back of my chair and Mike found it before anyone else did and that saved me a lot of headache. Thanks again to Mike, Robin and Carolyn for helping make my Charleston visit a good one.
