Can I earn points or miles for stays that occurred prior to my enrolment in the IHG® Rewards Club programme?

How soon after enrolment will I get a card?
You will receive your IHG® Rewards Club membership kit within 2-4 weeks after your first stay. You may also print your temporary card to use when travelling prior to receiving your membership kit.

How many points do I earn when I stay?
If you enroll in IHG® Rewards Club at the time of your initial stay in any IHG branded hotel excluding ANA partner hotel worldwide, you will be awarded 1,000 points for that qualified enrolling stay.

InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza® Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express® , EVEN® and HUALUXE® hotel brands worldwide, you will receive ten (10) points for each USD dollar or local currency equivalent paid toward Eligible Charges on your individual hotel room bill, when you pay Qualifying Room Rates, or the applicable airline miles; -

Members will earn two and one-half (2.5) points per $1 USD on all qualified room rates and qualified incidental expenditures for stays at The Residence Suites Dubai F.C, InterContinental Doha Residences, and Asiana Reside Saigon Residences.

Staybridge Suites® and Candlewood Suites® hotel brands you will receive five (5) points for each USD dollar or local currency equivalent paid toward Eligible Charges on your individual hotel room bill, when you pay Qualifying Room Rates, or the applicable airline miles; -

InterContinental® Alliance Resorts worldwide, you will receive 2,000 points per Qualifying Stay or the applicable airline miles; -

Can I earn points and miles at the same time?
Your IHG® Rewards Club account must reflect either a points or a mileage earning preference. However, you can switch from one to the other at any time by clicking here. On rare occasions, there are IHG® Rewards Club promotions that offer points only, so if you are a mileage earner you will earn points on these offers. This information will be clearly displayed in the promotion details.

Will my points ever expire?
To reward our guests who choose to stay with us more often, we focus more programme benefits toward members who earn and redeem on a regular basis. All points will expire after 12 months if there's no account activity. But it's easy to maintain your points balance. Just earn or redeem once a year through any of our IHG hotels or partners.

IHG® Rewards Club Gold Elite membership will be awarded to you if you have a minimum of 10 nights at qualifying rates or earn at least 10,000 Elite Qualifying points during a calendar year. Once you have earned Gold Elite membership status in any calendar year, you will maintain such status until the end of the following calendar year. How do I earn Spire Elite within IHG® Rewards Club?
The Spire Elite level within IHG® Rewards Club will be awarded to you if you have a minimum of 75 nights at qualifying rates or earn at least 75,000 Elite Qualifying points during a calendar year. Once you have earned the newest membership status in any calendar year, you will maintain such status until the end of the following calendar year. If I qualify for the Spire Elite, how long will I be able to access my Choice Benefit?
Once you qualify for Spire Elite, you'll be able to access and choose your Choice Benefit until the end of the programme year (usually the end of the following calendar year.) For example, if you earn our newest membership level in August 2015, you'll have until 31st December 2016 to select your Choice Benefit.

I would like to upgrade my friend to Platinum Elite, but my friend is not an IHG® Rewards Club member. Is this possible?
Yes, you can nominate to upgrade someone to Platinum Elite but your friend will need to enrol in IHG Rewards Club first, by simply logging in to ihg.com/rewardsclub and selecting “Join IHG Rewards Club".

As a Spire Elite member, if I choose 25,000 bonus points this year for my Choice Benefit and I requalify for Spire Elite next year, will I get to make another choice next year?
Yes, each year that you earn or maintain Spire Elite, you'll earn another Choice Benefit. And each year you can make a different choice.

As a Spire Elite member, can I switch my Choice Benefit selection if I change my mind?
No, as both Choice Benefits are processed instantly, we are unable to reverse your choice once selected.

As a Spire Elite member, I'm ready to choose my Choice Benefit! How do I make my selection and how long will it take to see the points or for my friend to be upgraded?
Simply log in to your account on ihg.com/rewardsclub and you'll be able to make your selection in your account. If you choose points, we'll deposit the points into your account immediately. If you choose to upgrade a friend to Platinum Elite, all you'll need is your friend's IHG Rewards Club member number (or have them sign up at ihg.com/rewardsclub if not already a member), and we'll instantly upgrade your friend to Platinum Elite.

Can I earn points on meetings? 
Yes, you can earn points on qualified meetings by becoming a member of IHG® Meeting Rewards. If you are already a IHG® Rewards Club member, click here to update your account. As a meeting planner, you become a Gold elite member after hosting one qualified event or become a Platinum elite after two qualified events.
