The hotel was once a beautiful place but now is very tired and run down. It has been poorly maintained in recent years. Considering its location in the heart of Big Bear Lake Village, it should be a gem. It has all the bones to be great again but it will need a lot of repairs and renovations to regain its reputation and to bring people back again. We stayed in the hotel last year and we had hoped it would have been improved by this year but unfortunately it had slid even further downward.
Look anywhere else if you're coming in the summer

The property owner refuses to spend money on maintenance or repairs. This means the air conditioning in all guest rooms is broken. Further - the condition of the rooms is fairly rough considering the price point of this hotel. You're better off at a Motel 6.

To be upfront when booking that the hotel hasn’t fixed their AC in months. Would have booked another hotel since it was summer time.

The motel is somewhat dated but well maintained. The room was large and nice with good beds and ample room for an extended stay, which we appreciated.
When we arrived we were told the air conditioning for the rooms was not working and we were offered a fan for our window, which we used.
Fortunately, the days were comfortable enough and we did fine. Had it been hot the stay would have been problematic.
I think the pool was out of order, but we were not using it so no problem for us. Although, had the whirlpool been a hot tub we might have liked to utilize that. However, it is cold water only.
The in-house restaurant was nice to have. We used it once for breakfast and it was good.
Little things like the ice machine not working and the fact that there are stairs you must utilize to get to the elevator could be an issue for some. We can still do that but some might find that difficult.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and we got a good rate so we were pleased.

We had the WORST stay and will never be back. Upon checking in we were notified that the guest rooms did not have working HVAC. It is summer and this made the rooms very stuffy. I was told to simply "open a window," however, I did not feel comfortable leaving the window open all night. In addition, the reason we stayed at a hotel and not a cabin/AirBNB/VRBO is because the hotel had a pool. However, little did we know that the pool and jacuzzi were not heated and the coldest pool we have ever experienced. We could not go swimming. This should have been noted upon booking the reservation. Clearly they are trying to save electricity costs by eliminating the HVAC and pool heater. This should have been noted when booking the reservation and we should have seen a reduced price in our room rate. Lastly, and most importantly, we paid an upgraded/premium room rate to include breakfast, and yet the hotel's restaurant would not honor our breakfast vouchers, which essentially led to us paying for breakfast twice. I contacted the front desk and their only response was that the restaurant was a third party and they have zero control over them. IF they have zero control, why are they selling an upgraded room rate to cover breakfast. This is FRAUD to me and a scam. I have contacted corporate and the manager of the hotel and NO ONE has been able to assist me as I am simply looking for a refund for my breakfast. Extremely frustrated. DO NOT STAY HERE! Also, one last thing, the sheets are like paper. So uncomfortable and so noisy.

AC broken before, during and after our stay, no one was trying to fix it. Ice makers on 1st and 3rd floor broken, no one tried to fix. Coffee in lobby was empty every morning we went and hotel did not have many guest as the a/c was out. Many times there was just a sign at front desk be back in 30 minutes.

Been going to Big Bear since a child and my parents lived there 25 years ago so very familiar with area. Never stayed at Holiday Inn there before but was there for a visit so thought great location, will try it. Booked for late July. First, parking lot very empty, not good sign, then enter to check in and sign about no A/C on property. Wasn’t notified about this nor anything on website when booking. Found out it’s been out 2 months with no idea , from staff, on when it’ll be fixed. They offered a fan. Then get to room. It’s nice but stuffy. Bed , ok. Sink in vanity plugged up, wouldn’t drain. Then needed hot shower, no hot water. Very disappointing. We were only there for 1 night. When leaving room, chatted with another guest, who had been there 3 nights and they’ve had no hot water.
When I told staff at Check out, she was surprised there was no hot water. Didn’t offer a discount but said she’d feel someone. I’m guessing if they aren’t responding fast with the A/C, maybe the water situation won’t be addressed as well.
Also, there was not an option for elevator to take bags from lobby. Needed to walk them down stairs to level to get elevator. Not a great design and not sure how they handle disabled people.

Not a resort in any way shape or form. Cold coffee in lobby and sometimes no one at front desk. However, it is very close to the Village at Big Bear.

the staff is incredible. They are so friendly and so helpful when traveling with a disabled adult and a severely autistic little guy I found them to be so accommodating and warm and loving, and it made our stay amazing. We love Makaylah

The resort is in a good location but when we arrived the HVAC system was not working properly. We were told that it was not pressurized properly and AC not work. At night, there was also no heat since HVAC was set to cooling and temperatures were freezing. It seemed management knew of this issue ahead of our arrival date so better communication to let us know would’ve been helpful and appreciated. We were able to cancel the rest of our reservation after one night and when we called and booked a different hotel, even they knew of the HVAC issues this property was having. Again, it would’ve been great to have someone from the property to call/email to let us know of the issues and provided the opportunity to rebook instead of sleeping in a freezer for the night.

Upon check in (I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights) I asked about the hot tub at the pool area. I was told it was being repaired and they would let me know if it could be used later on (nope). In the evening, the television did not work and when I called the front desk I was told the cable was out. The air conditioner did not work, but at least we could open the windows to let in the breeze. The next morning, there was NO power. So, no lights, no hot water, no phone connection to the front desk. And there was No one physically at the front desk to answer any questions (when we went downstairs to inquire). We left the property for food and upon return, the staff person who was in the lobby said the power MIGHT be restored by 5 pm. I asked if there would be any compensation or courtesy referrals to go to another hotel. I was told NO, but if I chose to look for another hotel, they would not charge me the fee for checking out too early (they didn't seem to care). Someone from their adjoining property restaurant told us the hotel has been experiencing ongoing power outages (on and off for several days) and that the power usually comes back on by 5 pm. If this is so, why not warn customers upfront and gives us the choice NOT to book at their hotel. We had an evening event to attend and did not have time to call around, rebook, pack, then check in at a different hotel. We splashed cold water on ourselves (no lights, windows or hot water in the bathroom so could NOT take a Shower), then had to leave for our event and hope that there would be power when we returned later on that night. Fortunately, there was power before we went to bed. Then, our check out time was the next morning. So we did not get use of the advertised amenities that we paid for at this hotel. I had submitted complaints during our brief stay through my membership portal to no avail. No customer service. Very disappointed.
