Great property but poor guest attention

This is my fourth stay at this property in Gurgaon. I have also attended multiple conferences here. The property is great and the rooms comfortable. I especially like the seasonal fruit service in the rooms.. Breakfast is also generally a lavish spread.

What is missing is a personal touch of the staff and attention to the guest. I have stayed in almost all the comparable hotels in the locality being a frequent visitor to the city. Everything else is comparable with them, but the staff attention to the guest is not. For eg. during breakfast, the servers are not very attentive . In other hotels, the servers and chefs do rounds and speak to guests if everything is fine or if they need something special which is not included in the buffet.

What also needs improvement is the turnaround time at the reception especially during peak check in hours and attention to guest requests. So when I checked in on the 21st Feb 2015, only two of the three check-in counters were working and there was a big queue waiting because one of the guest was taking too much time to check out. I was already getting late for my meeting and wanted to just check in and then run out since my taxi was waiting. Finally my turn for check in came and that checking out guest was still disturbing. Mr. Majinder or Maninder who was attending to me checked me in. I specfically told him that I have kept my luggage at the concierge and requested him to please have it transfered to my room since I had to rush for a meeting immediately after checking in. He came to the concierge and saw my luggage and instructed the concierge to do the needful. When I came back in the evening to my room, I was aghast at finding that my luggage (including my laptop bag ) was still lying unattended at the concierge counter. For a second I was wondering if I was at a premium hotel like Crowne Plaza. I never like to make a scene and I just went and quietly told the reception person ( a different one) and he did not sound to be moved. He just said a normal SORRY and said he will have it transferred to my room.

So all in all a good property, Staff needs to be more attentive.

The floor of the room did not seem all that clean and I had 2 roaches in my room, one of which came out of the tray that the coffee and tee was in. I think the handles on the doors to the closet should be replaced, I found them very hard to open. The restaurant seemed to serve pretty much the same thing every night. I also thought the beers were overpriced. The lattice work above the griddle was not clean looking, and the lobby and rooms had a distict odor.

very taken for granted feel

I have been a regular visitor to your property however this time the feeling was not very up to the mark.
- was given a smoking room ... i have never stayed in a smoking room also was not specifically asked this
- tried calling the front office from my room no one answered. had to haul the luggage all the way back from my room to reception and then again to the new room
- there were other smaller items as well like - my order for waffles was delivered 30mins late and was told waffles take time (!), newspaper selection limited, no chocolates in the room :)
