This fascinating museum houses the authentic re-creation of oil discovery and production in the early 1930s from the largest oil field inside U.S. boundaries. Here, visitors see the people, their towns, their personal habits, their tools and their pastimes – all colorfully depicted in dioramas, movies, sound presentations and actual antiques donated by East Texas citizens. See how tall you stand beside the Texas-sized, hand-painted murals of early oil production and portraits of famous oil men.

It's a world class event attracting the very best competitive pilots from across the United States and the world.Considered by many of the pilots that compete at the Great Texas Balloon Race to be the best run event on the circuit, the Great Texas Balloon Race earned Longview the official designation as "The Balloon Capital of Texas" by the Governor of Texas in 1985.Balloon Flights begin the event on Friday morning with a flight over the City of Longview.Launch and landing sites change each year

The Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex encompasses the Maude Cobb Convention Center, Longview Exhibit Building, PRCA approved Rodeo Arena, Agricultural Pavilion and Fairgrounds, providing a multi-purpose complex suitable for a variety of activities and events. A joint project of the Longview Chamber of Commerce and the City of Longview, Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex was built and furnished debt free with money from the hotel/motel occupancy fund and personal contributions.

Located in the middle of Longview the fairgrounds is host to several of Longviews major events. Guests may enjoy the monthly Trade-Days or Farmers Market. Throughout the year events such as Dalton Days, the Gregg County Rodeo, and the Gregg County Fair.

This year’s show features an awesome list of television stars including the legendary king of the Monster Trucks, “Big Foot” as he competes in side by side racing against “Shock Therapy”, “Excaliber”, “Barbarian”, “Raisin Kane” and the 30’ Tall Car Eating Robotic Dinosaur “Transaurus” brought to you by Patterson Dodge in Kilgore. Plus you can take a ride in a Monster Truck prior to the show and during half time. Local Hot Rodders can compete in the Quad races & Tuff Truck obstacle course. .

Lear Park is a 150 acre complex that includes a outdoor sports facility with basketball, volleyball, baseball and soccer areas, along with hiking trails and picnic areas. The Kidsview playground on the site is a large jungle gym area with elaborate setups. park includes the W.G. "Bill" Lear Sports Complex, walking trails, ponds and a family recreation/gathering area. The Sports Complex includes soccer fields for all ages, baseball fields, and sand volleyball courts and girls softball fields.

This is a place where you can slow down, visit and ask questions, talk to collectors and antique dealers, and meet the artists and craftsmen who create one-of-a kind items. The world's largest outdoor trade days takes place Thursday through Sunday before the first Monday of every month in Canton, Texas.
