We spent a couple of nights at Holiday Inn Bromsgrove, during a weekend visit to the Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster.
The hotel is easily accessible from the M5 motorway, yet is located in a countryside setting which makes it ideal for a relaxing break.
We arrived late on the first evening but were soon able to check in and settle into a large, comfortable room. After a good sleep we enjoyed a hearty breakfast the next morning and took advantage of a swim with our little girl; family time together is welcomed!
Our friends arrived later that afternoon and we were able to enjoy another swim, which the kids loved. Numbers of people in the pool have to be restricted, due to its size, but the wait was not excessive and we were offered complimentary soft drinks in the meantime.
Many parts of the hotel have been refurbished in recent years, but that shows up the parts that have not. The swimming pool and jacuzzi area could benefit from some refurbishment, but the main area for attention has to be the bathrooms in bedrooms and some public areas (e.g. corridors).
Whilst the bathroom is clean and tidy generally, the fixtures and tiles are starting to show their age and do not match the quality of other fixtures

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rob2206 Great location and value for money
Really liked the location and style of hotel. Room was comfortable although slight concern re rackety window closures given we were ground floor, could have easily been opened from outside. Facilities good, enjoyed pool and gymnasium and bar and restaurant.
Sleep for me and my young family was ruined by unacceptable noise levels from the room above, banging clattering and disgusting language heard clearly by me and my children, reported and dealt with (think they were wedding guests !!). Breakfast was ok but limited, have stayed in a few Holiday Inns and enjoyed more choice and better quality.
Overall not bad for the price paid, would give it another go.

Pros: Design of building has an Hispanic feel. Quiet location within a few miles of two motorway junctions of M5. Breakfast area was run well.
Cons: Pot holed car park. No luggage trolley on arrival or departure. Do Not Disturb sign ignored by housekeeping

The room was more like a store cupboard and in need of a refurb. The motorway traffic disturbed my sleep, The bedding was shabby. Check out at this hotel is always slow and the staff always put it down to their internet crashing. The reception staff did not appear to care that I had a poor stay on this occasion at this hotel so maybe they shouldn't bother to ask , how was your stay?
The restaurant/ bar and gym staff are friendly and helpful,

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by richardb57 Tired decor, warm rooms, worst breakfast service ever
We stayed for one night. Receptionist was friendly and helpful but on her own at checkout with a queue of more than 8 people!
Room ok but hot and décor tired, not as stylish as other holiday inns. Breakfast had lots of disorganised staff running round and setting tables (without an urgent need). The food was unappealing as there were caked serving devices, dried up stained tablecloths and longstanding food in the hot serving trays. It looked very unappealing and unprofessional and staff did not seem to notice. The morose staff paraded around the dining room with poached eggs asking loudly if anyone had ordered them. It was a like a bad café. Really disappointing when compared to others in the chain. I would not stay here again without radical changes.
