would not stay here again until the area is improved and the breakfasts improve-too expensive for what we received

When we go to Cardiff we always stay at the Holiday Inn. The main reason is that the standard is always consistently high with no unwelcome surprises. The hotel is also well positioned for the bay and the city centre.
We are always made to feel welcome.

This hotel is having a lot of work done on its roof so scaffolding is up all around the hotel so the view from the window was hot very nice.
I was never told about the work when I book this hotel

Bit worried as I drove in tired and hungry that I was going to be in the middle of a housing estate, miles from anywhere. If all else failed, there was an in-house food option and a vending machine but I was keen to get out and explore.
Turned out splendidly as the helpful receptionists pointed me towards lots of food choices about 15 mins walk away. Not a problem given it was lovely evening and I can walk easily. Might be something to bear in mind if neither of these apply.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sue and Dan Good service but overpriced
Staff lovely and breakfast area very nice. However everything else was rather disappointing. Rooms are tired and a bit shabby. Our ground floor room was v dark and miserable probably due to window being covered in scaffolding. Sausages at breakfast burnt. Had to pay for parking even though this hotel is not a city centre location. I feel that if a hotel is having work done that this should be reflected in the price. We paid three times as much as we did to stay in Swansea the night before and this hotel not a patch on the one in Swansea?! That said Cardiff Bay itself is well worth a visit and was glorious in the sunshine.
