A short bus ride, or 20-minute walk from the hotel, Museum Frieder Burda is worth a visit for its architecture alone. A dazzling white, modernist structure designed by renowned architect Richard Meier, it's set in landscaped parkland. Inside you'll discover an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art. A glass bridge leads to the State Art Gallery, where more artwork can be admired.
A five-minute walk from the hotel, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden opera house and concert hall is one of the finest music venues in Europe. The original building was constructed in 1904 and served as the railway station for many decades. It was redesigned in the 1990s with perfect acoustics in mind, and today a modern glass-fronted annex adjoins the historic neoclassical building.
Don't Go Home Without
A trip to the luxurious Caracalla Spa is a must on any visit to Baden-Baden. Flanked by forest, the spa complex offers indoor and outdoor pools with thermal waters of varying temperatures. There's also a range of saunas and beauty treatments available. Alternatively, the adjacent Friedrichsbad bathhouse combines Roman bathing traditions with Irish hot-air baths in an historic domed building.
If you're visiting Baden-Baden on holiday, do take advantage of the guest card handed to you when checking in at the hotel. The card offers a variety of excellent discounts in and around the town, including museums, city tours and performances. Low-cost accommodation in Baden-Baden is a rarity, so a budget hotel that also offers money off admission to local attractions is not to be missed.
