Montezuma Castle

Located a short drive west of Las Vegas, in the rugged and beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains, is the spectacular Montezuma Castle. Originally known as the Montezuma Hotel, the Castle was built in 1882 as a hot springs resort by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.

Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge

With the Rocky Mountains to the west, the Great Plains to the east, and the Chihuahuan Desert to the south, Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge encompasses a diversity of habitats. Located along the Central Flyway, the Refuge provides an important resting, feeding, and wintering area for migrating geese, ducks, and cranes. Open seven days a week from dusk till dawn.

Fort Union National Monument

Fort Union National Monument is a unit of the National Park Service located north of Watrous, Mora County, New Mexico, USA. The national monument was founded on June 28, 1954. Fort Union was established in 1851 as the guardian of the Santa Fe Trail. During its forty-year history, three different forts were constructed close together. The third Fort Union was the largest in the American Southwest, and functioned as a military garrison, territorial arsenal, and military supply depot.

Pecos National Monument

Pecos National Historical Park preserves more than 12,000 years of rich cultural history, including Pecos Pueblo and Spanish mission ruins, the ruts of the Santa Fe Trail, the Forked Lighting Ranch and the Civil War Battle of Glorieta Pass.
