The 2nd oldest of the official Navy Museums. Hours of operation: Mon.-Sat. 10 am-5 pm Closed on Sundays and all Federal holidays. Admission and parking is free. Located two blocks from the hotel.

Provides a fascinating glimpse into Southern California History. Admission is tricky; located on Naval Base Ventura County, the lighthouse is open to the public the second Saturday of each month. The Coast Guard hosts free tours on that day and operates a free shuttle bus from the base entrance gate (where you must leave your parked car) to the lighthouse. Access is restricted and valid identification is required.

Traces maritime history from 4000 B. C. onwards through displays of antique model ships and changing nautical exhibits. Self guided and docent-led tours are available and a gift shop sells many fine collectibles.

Heritage Square represents a successful example of historic preservation; the buildings house professional businesses, a clothing boutique, La Dolce Vita Restaurant, the Elite Theatre Company at Petit Playhouse and Rancho Ventavo Cellars' tasting room in the historic Scarlett House. The square regularly hosts weddings, meetings and special events including a sell-out Friday night summer concert series.
