In the early twentieth century, the singer Félix Mayol offered this stadium to the rugby team. To thank him, the emblem of the team has become a sprig of lily-of-the-valley Felix Mayol used to wear in his buttonhole. The stadium , emblematic of the Toulon rugby team RCT , double European champion and champion of the Top 14 in 2014, has the distinction of being in the city center. The atmosphere on game days reveals the love of Toulon for their team and unconditional fervor.

Enjoy a guided boat tour of “Europe’s finest bay” (Vauban) and discover Toulon’s military port, also France’s largest naval base. Climb aboard at the port of Toulon to discover the various warships anchored at the Naval Base (including the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier), fortifications bordering the bay, Bay of Lazaret mussel farms, maritime cemetery and Saint-Mandrier peninsula during this 1-hour guided tour.

Tucked away behind the monumental door built in 1738, the “Musée National de la Marine” offers a fitting tribute to Mediterranean maritime traditions through an exceptional collection of model vessels and galleys. Entirely refurbished in 2011, the museum now features areas dedicated to the military engineer Vauban and original naval base, the Toulon convict prison including a reconstruction of the prison hospital, and a focus on French Navy submarines and aircraft carriers from WWII to nowadays.

These are the city’s most popular beaches thanks to their location, extensive facilities for families and the disabled, playgrounds, restaurants and large landscaped areas where you can lay down your towel in summer. This is also the venue for major summer events, such as the Fort Saint-Louis firework display, Patrouille de France airshows, the “Lire à la plage” book readings and Fishermen’s Evening…

Set at the foot of cliffs and lined with pine trees and fishermen’s huts, these discreet shingle coves, so typical of the Var coast, are the perfect choice for a day out in the company of chirping cicadas and swishing waves. Snorkelling lovers – don’t forget to take along your mask, flippers and tuba to explore the Mediterranean sea beds! You can reach the coves of Méjean and Magaud easily on bus number 23 (Réseau Mistral public service).

The city runs two tourist train guided tours departing from Toulon port from April to October. Tour 1 : Mourillon quarter : Discover the Mourillon beaches and Tour Royale tower in a tourist train! The guided tour lasts 45 minutes (commentary in French and English). The tours run every day. Tour 2 : Toulon naval base : Enjoy a tour of the naval base (identity card or passport obligatory for visitors aged 15 years and over) and Toulon’s historic quarter.

Food markets are naturally one of the emblems of Provence and the Cours Lafayette market – one of the city’s main landmarks – is unquestionably one of the most famous of them all ! Accessible on foot, by car, or by cable car, Mont Faron is Toulon’s mascot. Rising to an altitude of 584 metres, it overlooks the Bay of Toulon on one side and inland Var area on the other. The cable car (unique on the Mediterranean coast) is without a doubt the least sporty but most picturesque way of enjoying the Faron’s panoramic vistas over the Var region. A host of activities await you at the summit, including the Provencal Landings Museum (Mémorial du Débarquement en Provence)....
