Hotel Indigo Albufeira Local area

Hotel Indigo Sketch Streetscape

There's no shortage of things to do in Albufeira. This is a city that runs on energy, music, and good food, and it doesn't slow down after dark. From the Old Town streets to the coastline, the pulse never stops, and neither do you.

Things to do

Praia dos Pescadores (Fisherman's Beach)

Praia dos Pescadores, Albufeira, Faro 8200-001

Albufeira's fishing fleet once launched from this stretch of golden sand. A few brightly painted boats still dot the shoreline, but these days Praia dos Pescadores belongs to sun seekers. It's a five-minute walk from the hotel, tucked at the foot of the Old Town cliffs with escalators and a tunnel making the descent effortless. Watersports like jet skiing and parasailing run all summer, restaurants line the boardwalk, and the viewpoint at Pau da Bandeira puts the whole scene into perspective.

Albufeira Old Town

Av. da Liberdade, Albufeira, Faro 8200-109

Albufeira’s Old Town is the ultimate mix of Mediterranean charm and urban energy. Wander through its lively streets, filled with shops, bars and restaurants that come alive with street performers as night falls. Enjoy authentic flavours and explore landmarks such as the Clock Tower and the castle ruins. This is where tradition meets the city beat, for a day and night, without filters.

Albufeira Marina

Albufeira 8200-394

A 15-minute walk from the hotel (or a quick taxi ride), Albufeira Marina is a Blue Flag harbour lined with waterfront restaurants, bars, and shops. Boat tours and dolphin-watching trips launch from the docks, and the marina regularly hosts live events, from equestrian galas to open-air concert series. The pace here is different from the Old Town's, a little more polished, a little more laid-back, but still with plenty to keep your attention. It's a solid change of scenery when you want one.

Benagil Cave

Algar de Benagil, Lagoa 8400-401

The Benagil Cave in Portugal’s Algarve is a world-renowned, naturally formed sea cave featuring a stunning, sunlit domed interior with a small inner beach. Key highlights include its "Eye to the Sky" opening, spectacular orange-yellow limestone walls, and accessible, guided boat, kayak, or SUP tours. Visitors and their families can take part in a number of exciting activities, such as kayaking, boat tours, and walking along the "Percurso dos Sete Vales Suspensos" (Seven Hanging Valleys) Trail.

Salgados Golf Course

R. do Golf, Guia, Albufeira, Faro 8200-424

Fourteen minutes by car from the hotel, Salgados Golf Club sits on the flat coastal terrain behind Praia de Galé, bordering the Salgados Lagoon Nature Reserve. This 18-hole, par-72 course was named World's Best Golf Course Renovation at the 2025 World Golf Awards, and it plays as good as it looks. Water hazards thread through the layout, an ocean breeze keeps things interesting, and the Algarve coastline frames nearly every hole. It's a particularly strong reason to book outside peak summer.

Praia da Falésia

R. Claus Hollmann, Albufeira 8200-593

Falésia Beach runs for almost six kilometres along the central coast, framed by dramatic clay cliffs striped in shades of orange, red, and white. Protected by a nature reserve above, the beach stays uncrowded even in high season. Three access points at Olhos de Água, Açoteias, and Vilamoura spread visitors out, and a short walk in either direction from any of them gives you sand to yourself. Beachside restaurants sit near Olhos de Água, and the clifftop viewpoint alone is worth the trip.

Caliços Municipal Market

Largo do Mercado, Albufeira, Faro 8200-126

Immerse yourself in Albufeira’s local life at Caliços Municipal Market, a bustling hub of fresh produce, seafood, and crafts. Just 20 minutes by public transport or under half an hour on foot, explore vibrant stalls offering seasonal fruit and vegetables, a large fish market, bakeries, cafés, and more. Meet locals, soak up the lively atmosphere, and experience authentic Portuguese culture in the heart of the town.

Albufeira Strip

Av. Sá Carneiro, Albufeira, Faro 8200-270

Some Albufeira hotels near The Strip, a one-of-a-kind party hub and tourist attraction, but only the Hotel Indigo Albufeira offers both convenience and unbeatable live-in amenities. And you will treasure that proximity to The Strip given how popular and fun it is all year round. It is a 2-km-long bustling hub that is famous for its themed bars, karaoke, and clubs. Come for the must-visit zone featuring happy hours, late-night dancing until sunrise, and close proximity to Praia da Oura beach.

Delectable bites nearby

Restaurante Três Coroas

mediterranean

Albufeira's oldest restaurants don't always survive on reputation alone, but Tres Coroas has earned it since 1970. Perched in the old castle walls with a garden terrace overlooking the sea, the menu runs from fresh catch fish to honey piri piri chicken.

Casa del Mar

seafood

Set in a centuries old building overlooking Praia do Tunnel, Casa del Mar focuses on fresh catch seafood and seasonal ingredients rooted in Algarve fishing traditions. Head upstairs after dinner for creative cocktails with ocean views.
