The statue of Hachiko

The statue of Hachiko is one of the most popular meeting places in Tokyo and symbol of Shibuya.The statue is in front of subway exit and Shibuya scramble crossing. This statue is homage to the faithful Akita dog named Hachi who waited his master, Professor Eizaburo Ueno of Tokyo University, every day at Shibuya station even after his death. Hachi was born in 1923 in Odate, Akita, so 2023 is the year of his 100th anniversary.
