Not worth it

By

Front end staff not particularly welcome or pleasant .. more cynical and detached.
They didn't acknowledge or provide any benefit from my IHG elite status.
Noise from the corridor and the room doors closing can be heard loudly and disturbs sleep.
Useless to use "No disturb" sign, as the loud banging from room service on the rooms next to you will be enough to wake you up - every single morning it happened.

The brand Crowne Plaza usually goes with high quality. The staff was rude, especially from the front desk personal. Another friend of ours who also stayed at the Crowne Plaza at 739 Canal & Bourbon found a dead mouse laying on a mouse trap in his room. The mouse was starting to decay, so either the room had not been rented for some time, or the cleaning crew didn't see it, but the guest did.

While the location is great for touring the French Quarter, the location along Canal Street also attracts bums and transients. These people are drunk, lying on the sidewalk, and provides a poor ambiance for chooing this hotel. The City of New Orleans definitely has a transient problem. I would not stay here again. Food service pricing is enormous for room service items as well as the dining area within the Crown Plaza itself. There are so many hotels to choose from in New Orleans all located within walking distance of the French Quarter and other venues like the RiverWalk Mall.

I would go elsewhere and Cowne Plaza management needs to stepup the friendliness of the staff. This stay was a real disappointment. 2 star rating out of 5 total.

Glad I didn't pay for this room

By

November 21, 2014

I got this room for free on my IHG Rewards program, otherwise it would not have been worth the ridiculous amount of money they wanted for it. The air conditioning would not cool the room, the room was noisy (I could hear everything on the street, even though I was on the 11th floor), the room was old and dated looking (handle missing on the dresser drawer) , and there was no hot water for my morning shower. The ONLY reason to stay in this hotel is its proximity to Bourbon Street, if you want that. Additionally, the only parking is paid valet parking, which they double charged me for. This was the night before a Saints game, and so there weren't many choices, but if I had it to do over, I would not stay here.
