Great location

In walking distance of most downtown Key West attractions. Great ambiance in hotel. Friendly staff. Did have trouble getting hot water in the room.

Centrally located hotel, shame about the breakfast service

At book in I was met by a Lithuanian Receptionist whose command of English was okay but somethings were lost in translation. I was informed that the hotel parking was exclusively Valet operated which I later found out to be not the case. I also presented my IHG Rewards Club card on check in to have my stay reward points added and was informed that the points had already been added. However, upon return home I checked my account and found that the points have not been added to my account. The next morning I went to breakfast with my family which turned out to be a very disappointing experience. Firstly the man that was hosting the breakfast did not welcome us and continued to work on the computer station whilst we stood and waited to be greated. When I chose a table I waited for over 15 minutes before being approached, during which time I had to help myself to the complimentary coffee beside the entrance door as we were not being attended too. When we were finally approached and asked if we would like any drinks, I informed the attendant that I had already got some due to the excessively long wait we had endured. I noticed that there was a high number of other dis-satisfied guests in the breakfast area. The breakfast experience then went from bad to worse. It was then another lengthy time before I received a breakfast menu and again before being asked for choice of items. I had asked what type of cereals were available, and was told that there was a wide range and so requested cornflakes. After another lengthy wait, I was presented bran flakes in a box and was told that this was the only cereal available to which I informed that staff member that I was extremely disappointed with the level of service being offered. He went away and was able to find an individual box of cornflakes which barely filled the bottom of the large bowl provided to eat it in (given that this was the only item I was having for breakfast). Of course, I was not provided with a spoon with which to eat my cereal, and after another wait, had to obtain a teaspoon from the cutlery station that the staff member was using. The member of staff had apologised for the wait, saying that he was very busy - this was not the case as there was only about 10 guests having breakfast at the time I was there - he was just extremely poorly organised. The impression that this experience left me with was one where there the hotel has difficulty in hiring good quality and professional staff, which is a shame, given the premium location of the hotel on the main shopping street in Key West.

No need for a car, you can walk everywhere from here, take advantage of access to the Southern Most House and Pier House pool areas.

La Concha

I was disappointed with my stay at Key West La Concha. The property is not marked with any Crowne Plaza signage, the parking lot was under construction which made locating entrance extremely difficult. While the lobby area has an open and modern feel, the guest areas have not been updated and are dreary, dated and have a musty odor. While our guest room was spacious, it did not have adequate working outlets and the bathroom area was in need of repair as shown in the attached pictures of peeling paint and mold.

I found service from the staff inconsistent though Eric (from Delaware) was very helpful. He provided directions and recommendations for various local activities. He also remained calm and professional when dealing with inexperienced staff members.

Overall I cannot recommend this hotel. It did not meet my expectations of a Crowne Plaza Resort.
