    We had not made a reservation. At arrival, the customer service/desk attendant was very friendly. She found us two adjoining rooms and answered all our questions. This was much nicer than I expected.

    The room was dirty, the bedroom door had a hole in the bottom from being kicked in, there were no restaurant guides, no local phone books or anything like that in the room. The entire 4th floor smelled like stale cigarette smoke even though all the rooms around us were non smoking. The pantry downstairs where the complimentary coffee is kept was out of creamer and sugar. When asked if there was anymore, the person at the front desk said "I don't know" and went back to looking at her phone. We have stayed in many candlewood properties and this one was the worst. There was a non refundable 75.00 pet fee whether you stayed 1 night or 10. That is too high for a 6 lbs dog that is staying 2 nights. Why can't it be refunded if there is no damage? Or a small deposit for each day you stay? We will NOT stay at another candlewood. We had reservations for one in Atlanta in June but we cancelled and went with a different property after this experience.

    This was my 2nd time staying at this location when traveling. I was impressed 3 years ago when we stopped on our route to Fl and will plan to stop again in the future. I have also recommended this hotel to my family as they travel in July.

    Alabaster and Earth City stay

    We traveled from Florida to Iowa and decided to use Candlewood Suites. What a welcome surprise, staff were very pleasant in both Alabaster, Alabama and Earth City,. Mo. The rooms were clean spacious and more than expected. The topper were the recliner, my wife has back issues and slept like a baby. We just found our new hotel chain.
