    Unhappy IHG Spire Elite

    The manager here doesn't participate in the IHG Rewards Program. This is the first time ever an IHG manager actually took away an upgrade at check in. I signed the check in documentation and could see that I had been upgraded to a 1 Bedroom Suite (room 215). The manager interrupted the clerk and changed my room to a non-upgraded room. I understand when upgrades are unavailable but to actually remove a room assignment that had already been upgraded? In my preferences on my profile and stated on each reservation I make "Spire Upgrade, top floor, away from road noise please". I had a third floor room next to the Interstate Hwy and a guest above me who decided at 3:45am to stomp around the room for almost an hour, dropping heavy items on the floor (including furniture). After I voiced my concerns at check out, the Welcome Amenity points were never credited.

    Won't stay here again

    I'm a long term IHG Spire Eiite business traveler who spends 90+ nights a year on the road. IHG is my hotel chain of choice. This particular location used to be a favorite until this manager took over. I stopped staying here because the IHG Spire Elite benefits are non-existent. Over a 2 year period, not one single upgrade even though at times the hotel appeared to be only half full (on more than one stay, I was told told that simply getting on the 3rd or 4th floor was an upgrade). Today, my Distributor Customer chose this hotel so I reluctantly booked the room hoping the manager's attitude might have changed. So get this... I'm checking in and actually signed at check in for room 215 (1 bedroom suite) and I'm thinking "Wow!" things have changed. The subject manager suddenly appears from nowhere and ACTUALLY INTERRUPTS THE DESK CLERK, TAKES THE CHECK IN DOCUMENT (THAT I HAD JUST SIGNED) AND REASSIGNS A NON UPGRADED ROOM!!! In addition, I asked for a room away from the Interstate for noise reasons. Guess where the room is that she reassigned... the closest room there is next to the freeway noise. Are you kidding me??? Then at 3:45am, someone in the room above starts stomping around, dropping things and even knocked furniture over (this is why I ask for the top floor). After I spoke to her about my multiple concerns she deducted the 500 Welcome Amenity Points. This manager has no business in the hospitality industry. Over dinner, my customer tells me that she cancelled the negotiated rate from his company when he checked in. Never mind that he made the reservation weeks ago at the negotiated rate. The manager simply does not honor the IHG Reward Club program.
