THINGS TO DO

Luisenpark: Two parts, one impressive site!

Theodor-Heuss-Anlage 2, Mannheim, 68165

The Luisenpark is the largest park in the city of Mannheim and was the site of the German National Garden Show, BUGA 23. It is located on the left bank of the Neckar River and covers an area of 41 hectares, divided into two parts. The city of Mannheim invested 35 million euros in the transformation of the park center, which now features an underwater world that showcases the biodiversity of the lakes, rivers and oceans of our planet. It offers a variety of family friendly entertainment.

Mannheim Water Tower: Little Paris comes alive

Friedrichsplatz, Mannheim, 68165

Mannheim was once known as "Little Paris". To this day, the Friedrichsplatz is considered one of the most beautiful art nouveau sites in Germany. One of the city's most beloved landmarks and the focal point of the ensemble, which also includes a garden, a water basin and an adjacent festival hall and art gallery, is the 60-meter-high Neo-Baroque water tower. It was built in 1889 by architect Gustav Halmhuber and was in operation until 2000. The atmosphere is especially beautiful at night.

Technomuseum: 200 years of technological history

Museumsstraße 1, Mannheim, 68165

The TECHNOSEUM is an interactive museum with several permanent exhibitions that takes visitors on a journey through the history of industrialization. Staged living and working situations illustrate how technical innovations have strongly affected life and work since the 18th century. Visitors can experience the grinding process in a corn mill, how textiles are made in a weaving mill, and how a steam engine works. With the help of TECHNOscouts, they even print postcards or make their own paper.

SAP-Arena: Mannheim's fine multi-purpose arena

An d. Arena 1, Mannheim, 68163

If you like sports or music, check out the SAP Arena event calendar: Not only is it home to Adler Mannheim, one of the most successful ice hockey clubs in Europe, but it also hosts concerts by international superstars such as Bruce Springsteen, P!NK, Die Toten Hosen, and Anna Netrebko. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, the arena can be transformed from an ice rink to a handball field, concert hall, fairgrounds or theater stage. The arena is also connected to public transportation.

Historic Residence: Mannheim Baroque Palace

Bismarckstraße, Mannheim, 68161

The Baroque Palace of Mannheim was intended to be the second largest baroque palace complex in Europe after Versailles. Its grand scale - a vast courtyard, a facade spanning more than 400 meters, and a total area of six hectares - emphasized the important role of the Palatine Electors in the Holy Roman Empire. Rebuilt after severe damage during World War II, a highlight is the restored grand rooms of the bel-étage (main floor), which house 800 exhibits including including priceless paintings.
