This is one of the best preserved ancient theaters in the world. Built at the end of 1st – the beginning of 2nd century under Emperor Trayan, the theater was one of the major public buildings of the ancient Philippopolis.It is situated on the southern slope of Three-hills in the saddle between Dzhambaz tepe and Taksim tepe.Nowadays this facility is the most emblematic monument of the ongoing cultural and historical continuity, carried through the ages on the Three Hills.

The Stadium of Plovdiv was built in the beginning of 2nd century AD during the reign Emperor Hadrian.The facility, approximately 240 meters long and 50 meters wide, could seat up to 30 000 spectators.There you can dive underground at the original level of the Ancient town. The space open for visitors includes a part of the track, the semi-circular part of the spectator seats (sfendona) and a panoramic wall with hypothetical. The Roman Stadium was pronounced a national cultural value in 1995.

Steering just a little from the Main Street in Plovdiv and imperceptibly you find yourself in “Kapana” (literal translation: “The Trap”). Once you get there you would never want to go back. The district emerged as a centre for craftsmen 5 centuries ago. The name of the district itself is inspired by the many tangled little streets. Nowadays you will not find traditions craftsmen here but contemporary creative entrepreneurs.You will find galleries, workshops, ateliers, studios, cozy restaurants.

Alyosha is an 11-metre tall reinforced concrete statue of a Soviet soldier on Bunardzhik Hill in Plovdiv. The statue tops a 6-metre pedestal lined with granite. It is quite nice to walk up (gets your exercise in for the day) with the views being the reward. There is a cobblestone path that traverses the hill side and is not that steep, so its suitable for all ages. Once you are there, you get a panorama of the entire city of Plovdiv.
