The hotel was nice. The room we stayed in was updated and needs to have darkening drapes.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a charming woman who told us of the construction work going on in renovating a section of the hotel. A personable host took care of our reservation separately. Our room on the new ly renovated third floor was immaculate and the beds were ultra-comfort! The bathroom had the latest modern appliances and a shower with a very quiet spray, which was nice and hot. The room was refreshed after we came back the next morning from a partial day trip. It was a great place to relax, and the attached restaurant was cozy and charming. The service there was very friendly and the breakfast one of the best we ever had outside of home.
Only problem was that there was no refrigerator in the room for our leftovers to snack on during the night. You need a small refrigerator, especially for that price.

Based on the appearance of the hallway on the way to the elevator and the elevator itself, I suggest you request one of the newly renovated rooms.

This Holiday Inn was easy to find, centrally located, and had an incredibly accommodating staff. 300 North (I believe that's the restaurant's name) was equally accommodating, and their dinners are excellent. Their breakfast was a bit disappointing, but offer a nice looking Sunday brunch. The Holiday Inn itself charges too much for the accommodations, and you can go right into Newport for deals 40% less expensive at Holiday Inn's top competitors, which I'll look into next time if accessing Newport area…this is though, a great spot for the Point Judith/Narragansett Bay/University Of Rhode Island area.
