One of the most important monuments of the Port of Veracruz is recognized as a historical monument since 1933 by the INAH. It has had a several since the time of the spanish conquest, from a simple wall to tie qhe ships, trough a Fortress ( to defend the city from de Pirates) , as a hospital and as a Jail. The Fortress of San Juan de Ulua is on an Island and was the last redoubt of the Spanish until 1825
Cathedral Of our Lady of the Asumption

The Cathedral was built between 1721 and 1734. The building is neoclassical and highlights the sculpture of the our holy mother Assumption. They also emphasize a Baccarat chandeliers, said belonged to Maximilian, and which were acquired by a family named Velasco, because the stanchions had been offered for sale, and the family donated them to the church. The dome is decorated with tiles from Puebla
