Don't Go Home Without

Visit Jalan Surabaya in Central Jakarta, well known for the antiques market located at Menteng area. Stroll along the shops and discover antique pieces to take home like wayang, porcelain, wooden sculptures, mask, eating stuffs made of silver and brass, antique lamp, metal souvenirs, old fashion ornaments, old telephone, old camera, old woven cloth, and amongst other goods.

Must See

Take a trip to see Monas, the National Monument, which is allegedly constructed entirely of Italian marble, and is topped with a sculpted flame, gilded with 35kg of gold leaf. The highlight of the visit is the smoggy views of Jakarta from the top of the monument (adult/child around Rp5000/Rp2500). Avoid Sunday and holidays, when the queues for the lift are long.

Must Do

Visit Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, located along the bay front, between Kota and Tanjung Priok. This 300-hectare landscaped recreation park providing non-stop entertainment has theatres and a variety of sporting and leisure facilities including bowling. It’s easily the city’s best entertainment in the city.

Local Tips

Comfortable, casual lightweight clothing in natural fabrics are suitable for travelling in Indonesia. Dress modestly and don’t wear shorts or tank tops when visiting religious buildings. The most convenience way to explore Jakarta is by rent a car with the driver or by Argo taxi meter.
