We were very pleased with our stay. The hotel was easily accessible off the highway yet inside our room we could not hear the highway traffic. It was so enjoyable for a change to be able to sleep without hearing Semi Traffic or trains that can make sleeping quite difficult.
The food was average for what you get complimentary among the other chains. Not gourmet but good enough to save you the time in your travel from having to stop somewhere else for breakfast.

This is a bit costlier than other local hotels at this I-40 stop off. It is clean and the staff is very friendly. It worked out for me and is tucked nicely away from traffic which enhances security. The only hiccups are some cost saving issues, reusing a key jacket is one with correct-o-type on the old ink. There are others and obviously run frugally to save coin. Though they probably don't think anyone notices. They do!

To date, we've never been disappointed in a Holiday Inn Express. Their beds and pillows are always great. My husband's only complaint was on the morning of our breakfast they don't have biscuits and gravy which is a favorite of his.

I have stayed in a lot of hotels as I travel for business. The new HI Express standard is nice to look at but not very comfortable. This hotel is very uncomfortable for me - beds are hard, pillows are an awkward hardness and not comfortable, room is dark and poorly lit (probably energy efficient but over the top). VERY allergic - likely harsh chemicals used in laundry and in room preparation. I had to check out as it just became intolerable. I won't stay here again.

The room was clean with refrigerator and microwave. The pool malfunctioned and was closed for maintenance; however, we were there just to visit family around the holidays. The free breakfast was decent with pancakes, eggs, toast, cereal, etc. Staff was very attentive whenever we needed something.
All in all it was a nice hotel with us getting a great nights sleep.
The only issue is the cost versus other hotels in the area which are much cheaper. To be fair, I have stayed in worse hotels and paid double what Holiday Inn Express charges in Newport so I am satisfied. I will stay there again when visiting family (this was our second stay at the Holiday Inn in the past year).

We have stayed at this hotel several times before with no issues. The room didn't seem it had been completely prepared. We were short towels and only had a pillow and comforter for the pull out. I called the front desk to get sheets and was told first they should be in the room (they weren't) and then to come get them. The lady at the front desk was adamant they should be in the room and even said "they should be in a bag near the ironing board...you know what an ironing board is right?" She even seemed concerned they had any. She finally gave me sheets but still insisted they should be in the room. The heat in the room only worked if we over-rode the auto setting and left on. Even then there was a drastic temperature difference from the front half of the room vs. the other half. Lastly the breakfast bar - as items ran out they weren't replenished. The bananas were not fresh - spotted and over-ripe. Internet was hard to connect and constantly dropped. More like dial-up than high speed.

The room had one clean washcloth and one soiled one hanging over shower rod. There were no hand towels. The thermostat control for heat would not work unless the cover was removed. It was a nonsmoking facility but some women were up and down the hall my room was on and they were smoking as well as in the elevator. They went into the lobby on the way to pool and they were smoking. I do not recommend this facility. They apparently do not oversee their service staff or enforce the nonsmoking rule.
