I called this hotel and the young lady that I spoke with was very helpful and pleasant. I booked online. It was a little out of the way but worth it! We arrived after midnight. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Taking this place off my list We are Holiday Inn Express loyalists, and we also know that you can't always have perfection, but this experience was too much, and not in a good way. We called ahead and asked to have four sets of towels in the room - did not get that. We were promised an upgraded room as Spire members are supposed to get - did not get that and was told that there was none available, only to find out later that the hotel was full of vacancy of all kinds (overheard the clerk talking to a potential last minute customer). The room was too hot, and the dial on the heater was not working so we could not adjust anything. We were told at 11pm that "we will fix it in the morning". That isn't what you want to hear when you have to sleep before that, and again there were lots of other rooms.... Breakfast: the pancake machine was absent the whole morning from beginning to end; apparently they had no more batter from the previous night. Seriously? Internet: atrocious service, the connection was frequently failing, and then even after occasional success, would shut down soon thereafter. The clerk suggested we use another server that was from an unknown neighboring place (!), but of course could not give us details on how to use it. Not surprisingly, that did not work in any sustainable way. Otherwise, they offered to (you guessed it) "fix it in the morning', meaning after we would be gone. Now, the reason I use HIE a lot is that internet service is usually excellent and I need it for work, not to play. So this was a MAJOR problem. I went to the lobby after midnight to get slightly workable but very slow service, but it was still difficult to work. Our location was unfortunate. Directly above the breakfast room, the smell of coffee and turkey sausage wafted right into our room starting at 6:30 when we were still trying to get sleep in the heat. Now obviously SOMEONE has to be above the breakfast room, so the problem was more one of insufficient insulation than where they put us. After all this, the manager in the morning offered me 500 points as compensation. Five hundred points sounds like a lot, but that is worth about $3.00 Considering I was charged regular AAA rates for the totally substandard experience, it was kind of insulting. Meanwhile, we are still awaiting that measly credit. Not pleased AT ALL. Best is probably don't go there. January 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Off the beaten path but good value Nicer, newer HIE for 10,000 points! Staff is really untrained, inexperienced, but rooms are clean and windows open for fresh air. Upper floors are made of plywood, so there are soft spots and noise, but when we were there the hotel not very full so not a big issue. January 7, 2016
