The Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory
The Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory is one of a handful of boreal bird observatories in the world. Take in a bird observatory tour, and don't forget to stop by the interactive Boreal Centre for Bird Conservations. Interpretive programs are offered throughout the park Tuesday through Sunday, in July and August.
Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park
Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park was established in 1966 to protect Marten Mountain, our amazing natural sand beaches, and the wetlands. Swim, soak up the sun, or build sandcastles at the picturesque, Devonshire Beach. This park also has over 35 KM of trails providing opportunities for hiking, cycling, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
Gilwood Golf & Country Club
Gilwood Golf & Country Club is an 18 hole public golf course located in the Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park. Surround yourself in the boreal forest right next to the beautiful Lesser Slave Lake. They have a fully serviced pro-shop and provide club and power cart rentals. They also have a restaurant where you can unwind after your round of golf.
Devonshire Beach is a 1.5 KM stretch of natural white sand beach and a great place to spend an afternoon swimming, building sand castles, relaxing, and watching the waves come in. Devonshire Beach is also host to an annual summer festival called Beach Days. Devonshire is within a provincial park and not to be missed on your next visit to Slave Lake
