Opened in 1963 as the city’s first mixed‑use development, Northstar Center embodied mid‑century ambition with its offices, retail, and the celebrated Northstar Inn. The hotel quickly became a hub for travelers, conventions, and civic life, known for its sleek architecture and its role in launching the Minneapolis skyway system. Designed as a “city within a city,” the complex linked the Cargill and Pillsbury buildings and represented a new era of connected urban living.
