After staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Elkridge, MD numerous times, I decided to make a public review. It is always clean and the staff is very helpful with anything needed. I always return, even if I have to drive further to my destination.

Asked for a couple towels on the morning of our last day, was told they didn’t have any at the front desk. Housekeeping brought me 2 eventually. A disgruntled guest and her husband tried to fight me and other guests because some kid knocked on her door at 9pm. I was just walk through the lobby to my room. Terrible experience overall

The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Rooms and hotel was fresh and clean. Room was spacious and very clean! Breakfast was hot and fresh. Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable.

We arrived as the police were interviewing the manager about an issue with some guests that included blood in the elevator. It was not the best first impression - my daughter was terrified to spend the night there, worried someone would break into our room. I got her calmed down and she slept, until the maid knocked as her keycard was sliding in the lock and tried to walk in at 8am! Maybe worst of all was that at 8:45 they were out of cinnamon rolls and refused to make more.
The bed was comfortable and I slept well, but I don't know that I will stay here again. I understand that the hotel isn't responsible for how the guests act, but the way in which they handled our entry (maybe have the conversation in private), shut down the crime scene elevator, the maid break-in, and the inconsiderate breakfast response was dissapointing for a Holiday Inn.

When I first arrived, I was early and asked if I could check in. Often, if the room is ready, they allow me to do so, but the desk clerk said they were full the night before and the rooms were all still being cleaned. No problem. She asked for my phone number and said she'd call me when my room was ready. I never received a call.
I arrived a few hours later, after 3:00 p.m., and asked if the room was ready. She said, "yeah, it's after 3:00." I was thinking, yeah, obviously...you could've called like you said you would instead of me having to go sit in my rental car for three hours. But whatever.
The room itself smelled musky, as if it had mildew in it at some point, but okay. I was there for a full week and they only replaced the coffee pods in the room once, despite me using the pods daily and moving the empty coffee pod holder literally to the front of the coffee table so they'd see it it was empty when they entered to make the bed. Really? I tried to make it insanely obvious.
I had to drink the coffee pods in the room because the coffee downstairs adjacent to the kitchen area was ice cold every morning. It was clearly from the day before. The desk clerk never made it during the night and I had to leave every morning at 6:00 a.m. for work, so I missed the free breakfast, which didn't start until 6:30 a.m. Some Holiday Inn Express Hotels commence serving at 6:00 a.m., but okay. This is the fist one I've ever stayed at where the coffee in the lobby was left from the previous day and not made for early morning guests. It was the same every day, so this is clearly not a concern for this hotel.
Finally, the fitness area was completely unusable. I stay at Holiday Inn Express Hotels very frequently for my job, and I am one of the people that actually uses the fitness rooms. The weights were missing matched pairs for several different pound increments and one of the weights was being used to prop open the fitness room door. Why? I don't know. The fitness room is literally right next to the indoor swimming pool, so it smells of chlorine and was humid and hot because of it. Again...why? Plus, there were no mats to put on the floor in the fitness room. Every Holiday Inn Express I've stayed in has the same fitness equipment and I count on it being there...this one, no mats. This was a first. I had to do my workouts during my lunch break every day on site where I was working. They had a better and more usable space.
I will not choose this hotel again. Usually I don't write reviews, but I was really disappointed with this one. I'll pass next time I'm in town and stay at one in an adjacent town.

Great experience, room was nice and clean. My only suggestion would be more options for breakfast (add French toast and more fruit).

This hotel is in a quiet safe area, finding the entrance to the hotel property was a little confusing, some small directional signs would help, hotel is immaculately clean and in excellent condition

We had an excellent experience at the Elkridge Holiday Inn Express. The facility is very nice, well maintained and very clean. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. i would definitely stay here again.

For the positive the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the beds are comfortable. Rooms are dirty- damp carpeting and leave your feet dirty. Tub did not drain while showering so it filled up with water. All ice machines were broken. A/C did not work well and the humidity in rooms were just gross. You can hear everything that goes on in the hallway. EVERYTHING! Doors slamming all night. And although probably situational: the room across from our hallway had the cops called due to fighting. Screaming, yelling at 3AM was the breaking point!

From the time I checked in for my reservation till the time I checked out was an absolute nightmare!!!!
I hadn't even gotten to the hotel & the headaches started. A front desk clerk called me at 10:20a the day of my check in to tell me my card was declined & that they were going to cancel my room. After much explaining to a desk clerk who barely spoke English the point was gotten thru to him that cash was being paid for the room & that I would be checking in around 4p.
Once I arrived there seemed to be a HUGE problem with my service dog, & that suddenly there was a $200 security deposit for the room that I WAS NEVER told about at any point when I made the reservation nor in the phone call I had gotten at 10:20a yet the front desk staff was told I was OK with it. If I had been ok with it I wouldn't have been able to afford the room I had reserved & I now spend almost an hour arguing with the front desk & had to down grade from the room I wanted to a lesser room. At 1 point I was told by a desk clerk I didn't need to be nasty with them about extra fees(that I was never made aware of). Then I was told that there was another $200 security fee for my service dog. I was also threatened that the room would be black lighted for dog pee, & that I had to fill out a form in great detail what my service dog did(like she was some kind of tricks performing dog)
The pool was SOOOO cold I couldn't even get in it & it had hair & lil white particles floating in it.
On Fri & Sat nite there was so much running up & down the hallways above my head it made it hard to sleep, along with jumping & banging. On Sat nite the ice machine on the 3rd & 2nd floor didn't work that I had to go to the lobby to ask for ice.
On Sat morning while walking my service dog outside, I was chased down by the desk clerk & accused of having a 'common' dog & that dogs were not allowed in the hotel. Not only did that add to my PTSD anxiety but it was insulting & embarrassing because there were ppl checking out & going places for their day which allowed them to witness this scene. At which I replied that I had checked in on Wednesday & here it was Saturday morning..???
The only good thing about my stay was the breakfast "cook" & the housekeepers. They were very sweet to me & my service dog the entire stay.
After waiting for 2 weeks to get back my deposits I had to call & file a formal complaint against this hotel. There was no excuse for holding my deposit for 2 weeks if there was no damage to the room then it would have been 'taken' within a day of me leaving. So again this added to my dislike about the entire stay.
It also didn't seem to matter to the front desk that I was/am a travel agent & that I would blacklist this hotel & not be subjecting my clients to this kind of treatment as I had gone thru. Needless to say, I will never be staying at this hotel or any 1 of many this company has, & I already have travel plans for late Aug/Sept in Va Beach but with another company who allows dogs & not just service dogs.
