Souvenir-Guan Xiang
Guanxiang, a specialty of Dongguan City, is a national geographic indication product of China.
Guanxiang is a kind of solid crystal with oil and fat, which is produced by using traditional production techniques under specific environment with Guanxiang tree as carrier. Guanxiang has a long history and belongs to Chenxiang treasures. It has been a fine tribute to the imperial court since the Tang Dynasty. It is a representative material, cultural and spiritual source of Dongguan.
According to historical records, Guanxiang tree was planted as early as the Han Dynasty. In the Tang Dynasty, Guanxiang became the most famous Royal tribute in Dongguan and was listed in the system. By the Ming Dynasty, Dongguan had initially formed a complete industrial chain of acquisition, processing and trading. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Dongguan had formed many main trading markets for Guanxiang, among which Yaxiang street in Liaobu Town was the most prosperous one. It was a famous fragrant city in Guangdong at that time. Numerous Guanxiang trades here, and then went out to sea from Hong Kong to spread to Southeast Asia and other countries in the world, which promoted the exchange and integration of Chinese and foreign incense culture.
On August 10, 2015, the AQSIQ approved the implementation of the protection of geographical indication products for "Guanxiang".
