What to Pack
Comfortable shoes
Whether you are walking in the city or the countryside a pair of comfortable walking shoes is essential. Many rural attractions involve walking on footpaths or trails with rough or uneven terrain.
Umbrella (preferably a folding one)
Given the unpredictable nature of the weather in Ireland it is always a good idea to carry an umbrella with you. A folding but sturdy umbrella that can be stored in your carry bag or backpack is ideal.
Euros and/or Sterling
It is advisable to have at least some cash with you when you first arrive in Ireland either to pay for a taxi, a shuttle or bus to your first destination, or simply to buy a coffee or refreshment. Please note that Euro is the legal currency in the Republic of Ireland. If you plan to visit Northern Ireland you will need to purchase Pounds Sterling. Foreign Exchange booths are located on both the arrival and departure levels of Dublin airport.
