The Basilica of the Holy Blood, elevated to basilica status in 1923, consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel, dedicated to Saint Basil, is Romanesque architecture with ribbed vaults and a 12th-century bas-relief of the Baptism of Christ. Via the Ter Steeghere staircase, you reach the upper chapel, where the relic of the Holy Blood is kept. The chapel features 19th-century Neo-Gothic decor. The museum houses valuable artworks, including the Great Shrine by Jan Crabbe (1614).

The historic Town Hall of Bruges, serving as the administrative heart since 1376, exudes centuries-old grandeur. The Groeninge Museum provides a diverse overview of Belgian visual art history, featuring top works from the Flemish Primitives, including Jan van Eyck's Madonna with Canon van der Paele and Hans Memling's Moréal Triptych. The Lace Centre has been housed in the renovated old lace school of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. The story of Bruges lace is told in the Lace Museum on the ground floor. Multimedia installations and testimonies from international lace experts help to explain the various different types of lace and their geographical origin, and focus on the lace industry and lace education in Bruges. Demonstrations and various courses are organized in the lace workshop on the second floor.

The 'Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaarde' with its white-coloured house fronts and tranquil convent garden was founded in 1245. This little piece of world heritage was once the home of the beguines, emancipated lay-women who nevertheless led a pious and celibate life. For centuries, the Bruges beguinage has been inhabited continuously. Today, some nuns from the Order of Saint Benedict and Order of Vincent de Paul live there, as well as single women from Bruges.

A romantic hotspot par excellence! Once people believed that water nymphs (“minnen” in Dutch) lived here, and thus the lake acquired its name.
