My wife and I spent a couple days in Harbin for the Snow World and Ice and Snow Festival. It was great.
The hotel is perfectly located just across the street from Central Avenue, where many
tourist restaurants and shops are located. Sample ice sculptures are placed along the pedestrian only road.
Two blocks from the hotel is the former Synagogue that is now an art and Jewish culture museum and well worth a visit. A few blocks in the other direction is St. Sophia's Orthodox Cathedral, now the museum of architecture and design. Also a wonderful experience and worth the visit.
The ride to the ice fest isn't close but not too bad by taxi. Make them use a meter.
Downside to the hotel was the in-house breakfast. For Westerners seeking a Western style breakfast, you'll be disappointed. If Asian breakfasts are to your liking, it's perfect. Depends on your taste and desires at the moment.
The staff is friendly and the desk employee, Dora, helped make my stay just wonderful. She speaks some English and was able to answer questions before my arrival.
If you're traveling to Harbin, this hotel is perfect. (No, I am not a stockholder in Holiday Inn or IHG and I don't work for them.) [Less]
