Restaurant Nightmare

As a lone business traveller I am accustomed to eating on my own. However I prefer to order, eat and leave rather than sit around taking in the ambience although there are many IHG hotels where I do feel comfortable. This was not one of them. In a quiet, over staffed restaurant I ordered a Caesar salad with salmon. 40 minutes later I was told they were very sorry it would be another ten minutes. When the food arrived it was appalling. Four leaves of little gem with some more chopped lettuce in the bottom of the dish, approx 1/2 teaspoon of dressing, one shaving of Parmesan,
not a big one straight off the block but a minute square like you get in pot ready prepared at the supermarket (<1cm), approx 6 stale croutons again
from a packet, hence the stale taste, not freshly
made. I do understand a crouton should be dry but
there is a difference between stale and dry and crispy and dry. I requested additional dressing and
was given whole grain mustard vinaigarette....
could have been nice but not a Caesar dressing.
On top of this flat and unappetising pile was a slice
of steamed salmon. I was expecting pan fried but
the menu hadn't stated that so I gave it a try. Moist
and hot yes, but it tasted off. In fact I couldn't eat it.
This is quite appalling and most unusual as my
husband always jokes I never knowingly miss a
lunch and I have a generous girth to prove it!
The trainee restaurant manager expressed concern, said they wouldn't charge me ( all in a very quiet and urgent ('don't make a fuss' voice). Would I like to choose something else? Frankly, No.
I declined, after a busy and stressful day I had
already wasted over an hour in a soul less hotel
restaurant that can't get a salad right.... what would
I get and how long would I wait if I chose
something they had to actually cook?
I am a fan of Holiday Inn usually. This restaurant is
trying too hard to be something more than a hotel
chain restaurant and has failed miserably. Close to
tears at the disappointment, hungry and exhausted
I made my to my room.... very warm, no air
conditioning, one very small window that opened
onto a flat roof I managed a bad nights sleep... too
hot and on the alert in case a rat came in the open
window! No I didn't see a rat and nothing came into
my room. All of this with the disappointment the tea
and coffee in the room had no decaffeinated option
but unusually did have two small biscuits (these
became supper) and in the morning discovered the
hairdryer was one of those little travel ones
plugged into the back of the drawer that does one
temperature -hot. Up and out with frizzy hair I did
not stop for breakfast, instead opting to go to a
competitor hotel and have Bircher muesli and
coffee. I must say this is not the usual Holiday Inn
experience. I have stayed in many and the one up
the road in Garforth is fantastic although I shouldn't
tell everyone that as it's hard enough to get a room
already!

I stayed at this hotel on business and I can say it was a pleasurable experience. The room was clean and the bed was fairly comfortable. The Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The restaurant was comfortable and the food and service was very good. Overall an enjoyable stay.

The hotel is very conveniently located, close to the M1, but is in a quiet and pleasant location. The staff were all very helpful, especially Carrie on reception. Our bar meal and breakfast were both great.

I've been coming to the Holiday Inn for a number of years now and I'm always very please with the customer service and general kind nature of the staff. The food is good with a variety of dishes to choose from. The rooms are a decent size with a good size bed to rest in.

The staff at this hotel really put the "service" into customer service, without doubt they are all attentive, and engage with the customer. I stay at this hotel quite a lot and the customer experience is constant. I've observed the manager speaking to all of the guests who come into contact with her.

The only gripe I have, PLEASE SORT OUT THE INTERNET IN THE BEDROOMS! In the restaurant it is perfect, but the rooms ahhhhhhh! That said, this should not take it away from the great job the staff do.

The beds are really comfortable.

From entering the Hotel and being greeted in a friendly and helpful manner, I found my room very well appointed and comfortable with all the facilities I would need or expect. The restaurant provided a very pleasant dining experience both at dinner and breakfast. I was able to take advantage of the excellent leisure facilities which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Altogether a delightful stay.
No hesitation of recommending this Hotel to anyone.

I was looking forward to staying at this Holiday Inn, but disappointed with the check-in and choices for dinner at the lounge or restaurant. The restaurant said I would have more choice in the restaurant than the lounge, yet nobody came to seat us st the lounge, so we had to go off the property to find something.
Also, I didn't like the fact that we weren't told you needed to insert your room card for electricity. Would have been nice to know instead of feeling like a fool calling the front desk.

The staff are lovely and the hotel large with nice sized bedrooms

The only drawback is the doors make louder noises than other hotels when other guests let them slam shut
