Must See

Must See

From March to November, you can test your nerve on the white-knuckle rides at Drayton Manor Theme Park, 25 minutes' drive from the hotel. If vertical drops and loop-the-loops all sound a bit much, there's a whole section based on Thomas the Tank Engine for younger children. You can also watch a movie in the 4D cinema or spot tigers, meerkats and chimpanzees in the zoo.
Must Do

Must Do

When there's a chocolate factory 25 minutes' drive from your hotel, it's hard to say no. Book a self-guided tour at Cadbury World, where you can learn how chocolate is made and watch chocolatiers at work. You can ride a virtual roller coaster at the 4D cinema, play interactive digital games and even drink some liquid chocolate. Don't forget to pick up a little something from the shop afterwards.
Don't Go Home Without

Don't Go Home Without

Step back in time at the Black Country Living Museum, 20 minutes by car from the hotel, where characters in costume inhabit restored 19th-century stores, workshops and houses. You can ride on an original tram, watch blacksmiths at work and explore an underground coal mine. Don't miss the chance to venture into the canal tunnels and former limestone mines on a boat run by the Dudley Canal Trust.
Tips

Tips

If you're planning on spending the day at the NEC for a conference or a trade event, you can drop the family off at the neighbouring Resorts World leisure complex. It's walking distance away, so they can shop, watch a movie, eat or chill out in the spa while you do business. You can meet back up in the evening to enjoy a gig, a big sports event or a show at the Genting Arena.
