One of the most important monuments of the port is recognized as historical monument since 1933 by the INAH. It has had several roles since the time of the Spanish conquest, from simple wall to tie the ships, through strength (to defend from pirates), hospital, ligthhouse and even jail. The fortress of San Juan de Ulua is on an island and was the last redoubt of the Spanish until 1825.
Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption

The Cathedral was built between 1721 and 1734. The building is neoclassical and highlights the sculpture of the our holy mother Assumption. They also emphasize a Baccarat chandeliers, said belonged to Maximilian, and which were acquired by a family named Velasco, because the stanchions had been offered for sale, and the family donated them to the church. The dome is decorated with tiles from Puebla
Naval Museum

Was inaugurated as such on July 1997 represents a fundamental part of the history of our country. The museum exhibits to the public 18 screens, including Prehispanic navigation room, geographical discoveries, chemical room, mapping room, living first expeditions, the conquest of Mexico, the new Spain, living fortifications and piracy.
