The many museums of Brussels take you from ancient civilisations to surrealist landscapes by pioneering 20th-century painters. The Musées Royaux d'Art et d'Histoire are treasure troves of art and artefacts from across history and from around the world. At the Magritte Museum, the collected paintings and sculptures of Belgian artist René Magritte form their own strange world for you to get lost in.

The hotel’s restaurant and bar offers tasty meals for time-pressed travellers, but Brussels also presents plentiful dining options. Start with a waffle breakfast at Maison Dandoy Tea Room, near Grand Place. Later, grab a street-food lunch of fluffy double-fried chips with mayonnaise in Place de la Chapelle. For a lip-smacking finish, dine on shrimp croquettes at seafood restaurant Vismet.

Belgium is renowned for the variety and quality of its craft beers, and Brussels has an abundance of bars and cafés in which to try them. A La Bécasse, down an alley near Grand Place, serves stone jugs of the popular white beer "jeune lambic blanche". Brussels is also the birthplace of the chocolate praline, invented here by Jean Neuhaus. You can pick up a fresh batch at Neuhaus Chocolatier.

To save money when sightseeing in Brussels, ask the hotel staff where to pick up a Must of Brussels booklet. It contains 10 vouchers for entry to some of the city's top attractions, including the Atomium and the Cantillon Brewery. The more you use it, the more savings you'll make. Remember, though: many Brussels museums are closed on Mondays. For more tips on exploring Belgium, ask our reception.
