We stayed here for a weekend leisure trip to Blowing Rock. Front desk staff was great and very helpful with area info. Room was nice-a little dark with it's energy-saving fluoro lights, but acceptable. Bathroom--there is a shelf built onto the wall that is part of the vanity countertop, and it extends over the toilet tank. This makes it impossible to put the seat up, so you have to "go" sitting down whether you want to or not. Shower was good, with great flow from the shower head. The back entrance of the hotel is now the de facto front entrance due to construction on Hwy 321 but we were able to get in and out of the hotel without any trouble. I'm glad we stayed here-it was clean and comfortable with friendly staff.

What can I say here? Staff was no help and not very courteous. Getting in and our of the location was always changeling. There is no sign that you can see after dark to where the location is at. We spent two hours looking for the hotel to get checked in.
The room was only half cleaned, papers and receipts from the previous guess were still on the desk. The room was cold as ice when we first arrived and taken forever to warm up.
The value for this location is not worth what you receive and the staff didn't want to hear any of the complaints.
I would score this location maybe a 2 at best, if you had the time to waste in getting around with the state having all the roads torn up.

I had a great stay at the HIE. Affordable pricing and a convenient location.

If you are looking for a room to sleep in, this is a good destination. should you plan on an extended stay of more than one night, try the Boone location. The staff was great, but the hotel is outdated and shabby. The road construction out front makes the hotel hard to find and the lack of a good sign makes it almost impossible to find the drive until you have gone by the entrance.
I stay in Holiday Inn Express exclusively and this is one I won't be returning to. I realize I was there for the end of the Leaf Season, but the room was not worth what the rate was.

Hard to find with construction around the hotel, but once inside the room we were very impressed. Nicer than the room we had at the Crowne Plaza, and cheaper at that by 50% Great bed, TV, bathroom accommodations. Overall would recommend this hotel to others and plan to stay at the Holiday Inn in the future because of this pleasantly surprising stay!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by mamaNorma Least favorite H.I. we've stayed in!
Hotel was below grade level and close to road where construction was taking place. Photos of hotel are misleading except for the interior rooms which I found depressing. Nice decor but dark and not cheerful. Rooms and bathroom on the small side. Older hotel that has been renovated. Weird hallway configuration off elevators. Scratchy bath towels. Bottom toilet seat would not stay up on own because of counter over it. Beds/pillows were comfy and hotel staff friendly but would not stay here again.

We took a last minute trip to enjoy the mountains and great weather. Due to road construction it was difficult to find but the motel staff were very friendly. We did enjoy a quick bite to eat before our excursions. The room was clean and comfortable. We would book a room again. Good location and family friendly.
