Chickamauga Battlefield, 10 miles from our Chattanooga hotel, is the site of the last major Confederate victory of the Civil War. Today, visitors can tour the battlefield, which contains a seven mile, self-guided driving tour with monuments and exhibits.
Chattanooga is known as one of the most "walkable cities", with an inviting downtown and clustering of tourist attractions. Park the car and hop on the free CARTA electric shuttle system that runs from the Chattanooga Choo Choo to the Tennessee Aquarium.
