We stayed at this hotel on our way to Florida on vacation. I was a little concerned when I called in the morning to confirm that we would be arriving late for check-in and the woman on the phone acted like I was wasting her time, but once we arrived everyone was very friendly and professional. The room was clean and spacious, and we had a good experience. I would stay there again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Art1952 Good location for southbound driver.
I chose this location on my drive south to Florida to avoid the Columbia/Charlotte morning commuter traffic. That plan worked for me. But, I made a mistake. I forgot to check that the bedside clock radio was set to the right time. Waking up in the morning, I thought I had plenty of time for breakfast. Wrong. By the time I got downstairs, breakfast was long gone. That one's on me. However, I wish hotels would add "set clock radio to correct time" as part of their housekeeping checklist.

Once I arrived, my reservation was set for the wrong dates, but it was not a problem, Kasey extended my reservation for the correct dates without hestitation. The front desk staff were always nice and courteous. This is an awesome hotel. This is my choice whenever I visit Columbia, SC

This seems to be an older property. The beds were very clean and comfortable but the carpet needed to be replaced.
The shower and bath area were super clean. The hide-a -way bed is definitely not for an adult. Very uncomfortable.
I would still recommend Holiday Inn Express as a semi economical sure bet destination.

would have enjoyed an outside sitting area with lawn furniture to enjoy the weather and read. observed other guests standing outside in front of entrance visiting. the pool area is inside only. saw one lady in wheelchair sitting in shade reading along side of building. i felt the service was great, very clean and great breakfast with no charge.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by King of Raleigh Disappointed.
The pool was too cold for an indoor environment, it was a very uncomfortable experience trying to entertain our kids. We selected this hotel not only because of the brand but because we expected a better experience in the aquatics facility. We were given a room with a broken remote control that was later replaced after we made a request to the front desk attendant. What hurt us the most was the fact that during the process of receiving a duplicate key we were made aware that our room had been billed for an additional $150.00 pet penalty. I say penalty because we were unaware of the pet policy of the hotel, and instead of giving us an opportunity to remove our puppy, we were immediately charged $150.00.
As a business owner myself I understand that customers don't always read the fine print especially when you check into a hotel at 2:30am. As a courtesy we should have been given the opportunity to keep our dog in the hotel and pay the $150.00 or remove the dog immediately if possible.
It was very discourtesy for the General Manager (Bianca) to not inform us of our wrong doings but to allow me to find out of this charge on my own creating an atmosphere that most people wouldn't have handled in an admirable manner. We were made aware of the new charge during the process of receiving a duplicate key, at that time we immediately removed our puppy from the hotel, and had him stay at a nearby relatives house.
We informed the hotels manager Bianca that once we were made aware of the pet issue we moved quickly to remove our pet, and we ensured her that the puppy never released himself anywhere within the room, in fact he was confined to the restroom for his entire stay with frequent visits outside to release himself. We pleaded with her to consider refunding the pet fee and she refused.
After practically begging her to consider a refund she agreed to consider a $50 refund, we just happened to stay in the hotel another night (4 Nights in total) and the next morning I asked (Bianca) if they had found any hair or feces in the room and she exclaimed that they were unable to find any. At this point I am thinking that surely I should receive a full refund considering the circumstances, instead I received a $50 credit only. VERY DISAPPOINTED. A policy is a policy only if you give options, in this case, I was penalized.
