Don't Go Home Without

Helen is home to a traditional stone mill granary, Nora Mills, be sure to get some old fashioned grits made the way mom and pop used to enjoy. Habersham Winery, across from Nora Mill, you can pick up a locally grown and fermented wine. Downtown offers over 200 specialty shops so you can find just what you’re looking for, from traditional face jug pottery to handmade farmers cheese.

Must See

While in Helen, be sure to check out Unicoi State Park’s hiking trails, lodge, and the 150ft Anna Ruby Falls. A short drive into the north Georgia Appalachian mountains will lead to Brasstown Bald, the highest peak in Georgia. Helen has a wide variety of activities for travelers of all ages, from mountain hiking trails to Helen’s Comedy Theater. Younger guests will enjoy our summer activities such as tubing the Chattahoochee river, ziplining through the treetops, or panning for gems and gold. You will be able to walk to most places in town, so be sure to bring a comfortable pair of shoes and a light jacket. Helen has year round festivals that celebrate both our north Georgia mountain location and our German culture, be sure to check the calendar for dates and information. During winter months some shops and restaurants close, calling ahead will assure you are able to see everything!
