Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Recommended Hotel Many hotels we visited. The HI in Torrington was one of the really good accommodation. Both the rooms as the hotel ambience was very appealing. The manager's reception with drinks and appetizers was very surprising and was well received. The breakfast buffet with warm cinnamon rolls was great. Here you could well spend several nights. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel for the price The hotel was in an ideal location for the places we wanted to visit. It is also well situated for a number of fast food type restaurants. It was very quiet despite being on the ground floor. I could not hear any noises from our neighbours. One criticism, we had a do not disturb notice on our door until 9.55. When we returned to the room in the afternoon our room had not been made up. We asked at the desk and were told it was because we had a notice not to disturb on our room at 9.30. The person at the desk was totally indifferent to the situation. I expect different and this did not happen at the other 15 hotels we stayed in during our holiday. June 19, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff The hotel staff was the best part of my stay. I (and 15 others) were there for over a month on business so I got to know many of the staff. Taylor (my favorite) was outstanding as was Michael, Shelby, Carrie, Cayley and Darlene. Karen, who managed the breakfast bar, did another outstanding job. Another well-received courtesy was the Mon-Thurs free beer/wine/soda hospitality hosted by Jessica (great job). And all of us enjoyed the afternoon cookies right out of the oven, very nice courtesy. Housekeeping staff did a great job, I never had any inattentiveness or cleanliness issues and my room was nice, hot water was always hot. Four pillows per bed, another positive. Internet security protocol was infuriating and worthless and the internet slow and unusable in the evenings with a full hotel. I understand the hotel is changing providers soon to help that situation. As for the train whistle issue, it is a non-issue. R June 10, 2015
