Love River

Pier-2 Art Center

The Pier-2 Art Center is situated Kaohsiung’s Yancheng District, which is so named because the site was previously a relay point for trade in the city. It served various functions ranging from cargo to defense to experimentation and innovation, and now continues this role in its capacity as a zone for art, music, and cuisine. Originally a container terminal and fishery centre, now transformed into an art zone, where a railway used to run, now a popular bike path – this is a sight to see.

Lotus Pond

Lotus Pond is located on the east side of Kaohsiung's Zouying district, it's named after the lotus flowers bloom every summer there. The pond is surrounded by willow trees, area of 75 hectares, and the most famous site there is Dragon and Tiger Tower. The foggy view in the morning and late evening makes the pond with the mystery feeling, especially in summer time, with the willow trees on the pond side and floating duckweed are attractive to all visitors.

Liuhe Night Market

Liuhe Night Market began from early 1950s. It is the most historical and representative night market in Kaohsiung. Due to good public transport network, this is a must-go for most gluttons. Chengcing Lake

Chengcing Lake is the largest lake in Kaohsiung. Takao Railway Museum/Hamasen Railway Cultural Park

Takao Railway Museum, Kaohsiung Harbor Train Station, it was the first train station established in Meiji era 41 in Kaohsiung also the cradle of southern Taiwan's culture. However, it was shut down in 2008. Now Takao Railway Museum plays a role in educating public and promoting culture concept. Besides, lots of preserved railway's antiques and equipment were displayed. Furthermore, with installations art and paintings, it becomes a friendly railway culture spot.

Aluminum warehouse

The Aluminum warehouse was built 80 years ago, in Japanese Colonial Period. Along with the growth of the city, the warehouse was renovated as a brand new shopping mall combining with entertainment, culture and creative industries. The warehouse witnessed the change of heavy industry in Taiwan.

Rosary Cathedral Minor Basilica

Rosary Cathedral Minor Basilica was built in 1859, in The Qing Dynasty, next to Love River. It is a both Gothic and Romanesque tower construction. In 1928, it was once renovated into Renaissance style to reshape its cultural aspect. Up to now, Rosary Cathedral Minor Basilica has more than 140 years of history.

The British Consulate at Takao

The British Consulate at Takao is located at Shaochuantou Pier, the north shore of Kaohsiung Habour, including two British buildings built in 1879 and one hiking path. This was an essential base of consulting operation in British Colonial Period. This is the most historical western Consulates and Official Residences in Taiwan now.
