Neighborhoods
Explore our neighborhood.
Bridges create a connection to San Antonio’s past, just as they play a part in the culture and beauty of this neighborhood. The bridges here once brought farmers to market, but now they connect the twin personalities of the city: the upbeat, energetic downtown and the pleasantly picturesque old town. It’s a wonderful combination. This neighborhood also hosts a burgeoning arts scene, which includes the Southwest School of Art, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Culinary Arts Institute at the Pearl, and the recently opened Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.
This museum’s global collection represents 5,000 years of history and cultures from around the world. Housed in a complex of buildings that was once the Lone Star Brewery, the Museum is renowned for its collections of Latin American, Asian, and ancient Mediterranean art, and includes a notable contemporary collection.
This historic gathering place is where everyone is welcome to eat, play and learn along the banks of the San Antonio River—a place where you can attend a wedding, learn to bake brioche, dine at numerous restaurants, hunt for unique goods, or enjoy a Farmer's Market or outdoor concert.
The new Tobin Center for the Performing Arts is right across from our hotel, and is the new home of the San Antonio Symphony, Ballet San Antonio, Opera San Antonio, the Children's Chorus of San Antonio, and more.
Departing from the bottom of our River Walk terrace, you will love riding the floating taxis that drop you off at various stops. Relax in the gondola-type ride as you gaze at beautiful art installations and our area’s unique sites. Destinations include the city's Museum of Art and the Pearl Brewery, a restored 1881 building that houses a weekend farmers market.
Only in Texas can you find a great place to hear live music that combines a laundromat, carwash and upscale bistro, but the Cove is exactly that. The line-up covers everything from big band jazz to cover bands, and on Tuesdays, there’s even an open mic night. Settle in for good music and food, and bring the kids (and pets) for ping pong and hoops.
Located in the heart of downtown on the historic River Walk, this dueling piano bar is the total entertainment experience. The high-energy show is centered around music that gets your feet moving. In the mood for a cocktail? Try one of their signature drinks: a Long Island Iced Tea or Adios Mofo served in unique plastic buckets (with a handle!) www.howlatthemoon.com
Sam's Burger Joint draws an eclectic crowd because of its flexibility in entertainment, hosting live music acts of all genres. The two buildings that make up Sam's house a performance space and a greasy spoon that serves standard burger-joint fare.
San Antonio's oldest theatre and newest entertainment venue, offering live performances and private events. The Aztec Theatre is a beautifully restored, Meso-American-themed masterpiece built in 1926. Today, it’s a live music venue featuring everything from rock to blues to Latino music.
This 24-hour landmark has served authentic Mexican food since 1941. The family-owned eatery, which showcases Christmas lights year-round, features strolling musicians who’ll play your choice of canciones while you dine on tacos del Mercado. Mi Terra's bakery is a must-stop for coffee, Mexican hot chocolate (with cinnamon!) and fresh pan dulce.
Located on an elegant enclave above the River Walk, this fine-dining restaurant features New American cuisine made from seasonal local and organic ingredients. When you make a reservation, ask about Table 31. Tucked away behind a sweep of curtains in the main dining room, treat yourself and guests to an exclusive five- to eight-course tasting menu.
Just off the River Walk, the bistro is the place to go when you’re in the mood for a great glass of wine, tapas and maybe a cigar. The wine menu offers an extensive selection of wines from around the world, including several from Texas wineries. Ask for a table in the courtyard, order a prickly pear margarita, sample the cheese platter and enjoy life.
Highly recommended by our team members, the Southtown restaurant offers a unique twist on traditional Mexican food. The menu combines traditional south-of-the-border dishes with authentic house specialties, all prepared with a contemporary twist. Guest favorites include shrimp nachos, fish tacos, ceviche, tacos callejeros, parrillas and specialty margaritas.
