Staff's Great, Room was a BUST.

The customer service was great! I cannot recall who checked us out, but he spoke with a heavy French accent, was about 5'2", thin, light mustache. He was WONDERFUL and tried very hard to address the issues. None of this was the front desk's fault, but rather poor oversight on room maintenance.

We arrived late, around 8pm and most of the facility staff were gone, so we did not want to keep bothering the front desk, but we encountered MANY issues with our room:
1. There were light brown stains on the top comforter and blood stains on the middle comforter. Our bed sheet was ripped with a three inch hole in the corner and in the middle of the bottom. We tried to call housekeeping, but everyone was gone for the day, so a very nice gentleman was sent up to bring us new flat sheets to cover the stains, I suppose until the morning housekeeping staff arrived. Housekeeping did not come the next day to change the bedding and we did not want to keep bothering the very nice people at the front desk so we ended up sleeping without blankets.
2. We tried to turn on the heat since it was mid 40s during our stay and the heat was not working. We called the front desk and they sent up a nice maintenance man who brought us a portable convection heater since our in room heater could not be fixed. Surprisingly, we were not once offered a room change.
3. The refrigerator was not working and the aforementioned maintenance staff explained that the person who usually handles the fridge replacement was gone for the day.
4. We tried to take a shower only to find there was several pieces of hair in our tub and toilet and the tub was very much beyond clogged that we ended up facing the shower head to the farthest corner away from the drain since the dirty water was backed up so much that we were showering with filthy water covering our feet.
5. We found clear gooey substance on the night table... I don't even want to think about it. We just used a small towel to cover it.
6. The hairdryer in the bathroom was covered with oil and had splotches of brown congealed liquid on the handles. We once again used another towel to hold it when in use.
7. The wall next to the bed had been recently and poorly scrubbed so there were circular scrub marks and subsequent chipping paint.

We were disappointed with this stay. Once again, the front desk was very polite and the gentleman who checked us out was wonderful! But again, I don't know if we just happened to get the worst room by chance and the rest of the rooms are better, but for our first time stay here and for a hotel that is supposed to be 3.5 stars, it was rather disappointing to find blood on our bedding, broken heat and refrigerator, and just overall, an extremely poorly kept and unclean room.

Older property showing its age

For a hotel away from downtown, rooms are unnecessarily small and bathrooms are beyond compact. The lobby area presents well but the rooms are showing their wear and the space is tight. Breakfast is reasonably priced but the quality is only fair. Hot items were not hot.

Excellent Service! Staff make the hotel seem elegant.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. I think the rooms could use a bit of updating but very comfortable and well appointed. The service, restaurant, and staff seem to add a level of elegance that makes up for the age of the facility. I especially liked the afternoon wine and hor duevre events. The staff made me feel like I was king.
