Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel with big chances to improve I stayed in this hotel again, and like the past 3 or 4 times, I had some issues again! It's well located, with a competitive rate, but this time my room wasn't the best one even when I'm a Platinum member, the Conditioning Air was awful (it didn't refresh at all and with high humidity), there was an annoying sound in the other side of the wall, like somebody drilling. The floor was with sand, I didn't walked in the beach, but it seems that the previous guests did. And the worst thing, THE INTERNET NEVER WORKED!!! Two nights in a so called Business hotel with an awful connection that never worked in the room... -"Sorry Sir, we had an issue with the antennas" - WHAT? It's not up to me that... resolve it! Of course, they didn't discounted that in the bill... it's complimentary. By the way, there is people that work all day out, we'll appreciate to use the pool after 8:00 pm. The location its great, because its not to far from downtown Cancun and malls are from a walk distance. If you have any doubts, the hotel crew kindly answers any question that you have, and even sugest the best way. In the lobby you´ll find trip advisor´s, and they have all the information you need about any tourist place in Cancun. The crew also have nice activities for kids 30 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great resort to relax and enjoy! My wife and I stayed 4 nights June 2013, taking advantage of the all-inclusive package. The hotel staff and wait staff could not have been nicer. The service was fantastic, the food was great, and the drinks were delicious. At this location, you are able to sit out on the beach and have staff come and take food and drink orders. There is a great buffet with lots of great food options, and entertainment a couple times a week. The DJ at the pool plays great music and trivia a couple times a week (need to brush up on your Spanish for the trivia though, but still mega fun). If you looking for a great hotel that isn't too crazy, family friendly, and away from the average tourist, Holiday Inn Cancun Areanas is for you. We will be back very soon. 08 July 2013

For some strange reason, I was not given credit for this stay. My account indicates that this was not a qualifying stay. What happened??? I live and work in Ciudad del Carmen in the energy industry, and I go to Cancun often. I would like to stay at a hotel where I can earn points, but if I am not eligible for a qualifying stay at this location then I will never return. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Stay at Can Cun Arena We had a wonderful time at Can Cun Arena. The front desk was great in suggesting what to do and not do in Can Cun. #1 thing to remember - get pecos and take the bus and not the taxi. We were greeted with a punch drink when we checked in. The Bartender "Migeal" was great! He was friendly and made us feel at home. "Carlos" was the best in the restaurants... He gave us so much attention, and was an excellent waiter! The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a nice view of the ocean. The hotel is family oriented, quite and reserved. Fun Activities are scheduled every night. We really enjoyed ourselves for the first time in Can Cun. You cant beat Holiday Inn prices for all Inclusive. I would go back again! 03 May 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, cold food I want to start with a positive, the staff that waited on us in the dining room was so nice! They were very eager to please. Our room was always spotless when we returned. We did have a good time in Cancun, this is the smallest property of all the all inclusives that we have stayed at. We have been to the ones in the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Cabo San Lucas. We did not like having to sign for meals and drinks everytime we ordered, this was a first for us. Alejandro who was at the front was very helpful, but the rest of the staff in the hotel spoke little or no english. We have never had that problem before. The food was very much a mexican culture offering. ALL of it was COLD, unless you went to the outdoor snack bar. One night they had on each table a basket with chips bread, green sauce and white sauce, that was my dinner. The caribbean show on Wed night was great, really enjoyed it, the food not so much! When we checked out, we had arranged private transportation through Cancuntours, we got to the lobby 30 minutes early, 45 minutes later, I called to find out the driver had been standing there the entire time. Neither the doorman or driver asked our name , even though they knew we were waiting. Overall a nice hotel, I blame management , step it up a notch guys. People like myself also work hard for a living, leaving our families to travel all over the country, we are loyal to Holiday Inn all over the country , and we use these points that you offer to us, just want to feel like I can take my wife away for a few days and enjoy a few nice meals and forget everyday stresses. 26 April 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Free wi-fi Spent 5 nights at this resort. Rooms were quite large and the bed was comfortable. We had an ocean view room with a balcony. All food and drinks included which was good value. Food was ok and satisfied our means. Breakfast can get quite busy so get there early and not around 9.00 am. I found some of the staff at breakfast had a bit of an attitude if you did not tip them. I am Australian and tipping does not come naturally to me so I find it quite amusing that if you do not tip on your first day there it is quite hard to get served coffee or tea or even get a table. Other than that most staff were courteous. Priority members were not well recognised. The adult pool is quite relaxing and the beach is kept clean and tidy. Would recommend this resort for families. 09 April 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Spring break holiday We spent 2 wks here in March 2013 the weather was fab, the seletion of drinks were brill from the lobby bar - Angel the barman was brilliant his service was 10 out of 10. The food was good, nice selection but did get repetitive as we was there for 2 wks. The entertainment people round the pool were gud if u can understand spanish and listen to spanish music. All the waiters were very helpful and rooms cleaned daily. Overall we had great holiday here and would defo go back. 03 April 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by everything went wrong room booked was not acceptable - only a lower quality room was acceptable and wehad to transferto that room . However the hotel continues to charge us the more expensive room for the complete stay , although this was NOT a prepaid booking . On top of it , for an unknown reason the priority points for the stay was NOT credited . This was the worst stay I ever had with a IHG hotel and I am a member for mayn years and at the highest priority level . A request to correct this was simply refused for uncorrect reasons. On top of it I never got an invocie , only a confirmation of the saty . The invocie shoudl be maield later on , but after 2 months I still have no invoice and no points for the stay 22 March 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Nicely run hotel with lots of Mexican families with adorable children staying there. Front desk staff spoke English well enough and all were quite helpful. Don't expect spectacular food. It was solid Mexican cuisine (lots of chicken for breakfast) with very attentive waiters providing satisfactory alcoholic drinks. Don't aggravate yourself trying to figure out the confusing reservations system for the special "Ocean Grill" nights because the food was substantially the same quality as the buffet. Fun trampoline provided in the water at the beach. City bus stop right out front in both directions. Ride for only 60 pesos; buses go 24 hours a day. Hotel had a pretty good exchange rate. Bed linens were nice. We chose to stay 4 days instead of 2 because everything was so comfortable. 18 March 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Five restaurants? The hotel advertises five restaurants, however, they really only have two, and they are open on alternate nights, one is an extension of the open cafe. (Room service is a good option) The service was terrific at the bars and around the pools! Reservations were a problem, but they corrected that fairly quickly but at a cost. 11 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and Modern This was free Prority Clubs Rewards night for me.I was given a ocean view room that was spacious , very clean and modern. It was all inclusive and i ate at the buffett which i was very pleased with. They had many excellent choices. Friendly staff. For the money a very good deal. I stayed the next two nights art a more luxurious resort but it was way to expensive to eat there. Wish I has stayed at the Holiday Inn instead. Bus stop out front of hotel and for about 8 pesos you can go in to town or up and down the hotels zone. The only con was they played music(I dont know why)next to beach and my room. They did stop at about 10:30. 28 January 2013

However I found this Holiday Inn a wonderful place to stay. it was all inclusive(food and drinks) I had a ocean front room very clean and modern . I ate at the buffett which was very good. Very friendly staff. I would stay here again.. for the money one of the best deals in the Hotel Zone P. S. This was a free Priority Club Rewards night . 26 January 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Loved this place.... Warm and Welcome Before I get too far into this I would like to thank several people that made our stay OUTSTANDING. First, Carlos. He is a waiter in the Ocean Grill, dinner shows, and the Italian restaurant. This guy was EXCELLENT. We saw him every day and no matter what he was doing he would stop and help us. He is an excellent server and speaks very good English. Whenever we came in for dinner, his first words were “Welcome Home”. Carlos was the BEST. Also, Eduardo at the main bar, AWESOME! Not only did he always remember our names, he also remembered our room number ( 2214, week of January 5th-12th ), which saved me having to repeat it in my really bad Spanish…LOL. ALSO, our Maid, she took really good care of our room. I only got to see her once and I FAILED to get her name but she was excellent. I had a great stay here at Holiday Inn Arenas. The purpose of our trip was to get out of the cold in Utah and get some sunshine and just Chill out on a Beach. No Big Parties, No hours of shopping. All we wanted was a really quiet place to chill out. If you are looking for a quiet place away from the Playa Del Carman area but still want easy access to the parties and shopping, this is the perfect place. Del Carman is a short 10 minute bus ride from the hotel. Downtown Cancun is 5 minutes away. The bus costs $1 American or 8.5 pesos one way. The hotel is Very FAMILY oriented and laid back. The hotel always had something to do. I really liked the movie/music trivia game on the beach. That was fun. The pool was very clean as was the room. The room was nice. We got upgraded to an ocean view room. The biggest problem was that we wanted a King bed. But when we got to the ocean view room, my girlfriend said we would deal with the two twin beds. It was a good trade off. The ocean was very therapeutic. The fixtures were a little corroded. The mirror was a little scared. The beds were comfy. The AC worked great. The water was a bit cold in the shower for me, but with the 80 Degree days, I didn’t mind. The FOOD was GREAT. Defiantly do the ALL-INCLUSIVE. Well worth it if you are going to hang at the hotel and Chill. The Ocean Grill on the DECK was FABULOUS. The ocean gill combo, Excellent! They do Dinner shows. They were Very FUN. They have a white wine from Chili that was great. For Breakfast, they do cook to order omelets and breakfast tacos. Eggs, French toast, pancakes, with fresh fruit buffet style(more choices than I can list). The Lunch is equally great with many choices. They also have room service that includes a Club sandwich, and if you get a hankering for a hamburger it is available, it is HUGE. The Italian restaurant is only open, I think once a week, but well worth the visit. The BEACH is awesome. It was a windy week and as a result every morning the sea grass was lining the beach. They had a guy taking care of getting the grass off the beach EVERY DAY! And he did a great job of keeping up with it. Best Day has a Kiosk in the lobby of the hotel. They have reasonable prices on tours that pick you up right at the Hotel. I also used them for my transfer to the hotel from the airport and back, booked it online for $35 one way…not bad. Great drivers! I would not recommend renting a car in Cancun. SCARRY! And the bus rides are much more ENTERTAINING! A little back ground on me. I travel 200 days a year (yes I travel every week). I have been in 5 star hotels and 2 star hotels. I have stayed at some of the best and worst that Holiday inn has to offer. This hotel I would rate as a 3.5 (mostly because it is older and could use some upgrades)and the All Inclusive I would rate as a 4, FOOD WAS GREAT! I will also NOT encourage other travelers to stay at the hotel if this is standard practice. THE IDEA of staying at Holiday Inn is to receive my REWARD points. 05 December 2012

A pesar de pagar una tarifa que no es de promoción y haber consumido alimentos que son caros, uno no puede obtener puntaje para el programa de Priority a niveles como Intercontinental, Stahbridge, Candelwood, mismos Holiday Inn y Holiday Inn Express de otras partes de la República.... la verdad es que no es un hotel que se encuentre a una altura de excelencia... es una lástima, por lo que pagué y recibí, prefiero mil veces el Intercontinental y hasta el Express del club de Golf Pok Ta Pok. 03 December 2012
