I note that the property is not a Holiday Inn owned property rasther a franchise of Queens Moat thus the hotel did not provide many of the facilities that PCR Members would expect such as a lounge, or use of the Internet for free in the room or in a public area. Recogbition of PCR members was minimal! The room was clean and comfortable enough altough a little cold as there were no instrucyions on the heating. Staff were competent and plaeasant enough however no discretion to provide additional facilities to PCR members 31 January 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Plymouth Holiday Inn lovely situation, super room, staff keen to please. the breakfasts were disappointingan in that both tea and coffee were not freshly made and the cooked food was barely warm and had obviously been cooked a long time and left to 'stew' and dry up. can I suggest that each food container is covered to keep the food hot and moist, as a lot of other hotel do. 29 January 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value for a family of five We are 2 adults and 3 children aged 9/11/13. We booked this hotel 1 month in advance as Plymouth hotels were busy over the Xmas holidays and reserved parking as we did not know our time of arrival. The receptionist was helpful and we asked if we could use the swimming pool after breakfast and she suggested a late check-out. We used the small sport themed bar and our children were delighted to find a pool table. When we went to our family room we were impressed by the space and layout, one proviso, there was no fridge to store our drinks. The breakfast was plentiful with good choice and the staff were good to our children although they could smile a little more. The staff at the sports centre/swimming pool were charming and friendly and the facilities were top-notch with a sauna and steam room. There was an excellent view of the Hoe and outside decked area looked tempting for a summer visit. 26 January 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Personal Service Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy our stay at this hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly, check in was quick and trouble free. But the room was on the fourth floor, was very noisy with people above and next door banging doors. Room wasn't very clean. Food in restaurant and service was faultless and very high standard of customer service. 25 January 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cold Rooms if staying in winter, no heat in bathroom at all, poor heating system The rooms are very good in summer but bitterly cold in winter with the standard rooms having no heat at all in the bathrooms, which is horrid when you are wet. The above blow 'heater' takes 20 min to start and then goes off when it decideds you are warm enough! We asked for a heater which was delt with very quickly and made a lot of difference. Double glazing is needed as the draught from the french windows, which dont open so don't know why they are there) makes it impossible to sit any where near them. Can't recommend in winter but fine in the warmer months. Lovely breakfast masses of choice. Beds are comfortable could do with a wider duvet. Hotel could do with an update. Please note. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely room and food and service excellent Having been born in Plymouth this was our first visit to the Holiday Inn for many years. We were glad we did. We were going to a concert in the evening and the location was so convenient that this was our reason for staying. The service we received from the staff, the room and all the food was excellent, we enjoyed our stay very much. The parking had been reserved for us and even down to the morning call and paper, nothing was forgotten. Thank you to all your staff, it was a very enjoyable stay. 24 January 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by overnight stay in the Xmas period we were deeply disappointed to see that our request to wake us up for our ferry was not taken into account by the staff at reception. It was a shamble to get everyone up and ready, having arrived past 1 in the morning! The room was fine, big enough for the 3 of us but a bit dated. Disappointed really. 07 January 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by THE REGULARS RETURN Enjoy brief stay in Plymouth once or twice most years, using 2 hotels. Holiday Inn is always reliable and we enjoy the food and the position on the Hoe, plus the onsite parking. Maybe some areas are getting towards the time they will need to be re-done, but everything worked, was clean, unmarked etc. and the staff are lovely. Unless you are prepared to pay megabucks and stay somewhere that refurbs constantly, you can't have the latest style and gizmo. That's fine by me. 02 January 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The Room No.3 Reception was advised earlier in the day that we would arrive late. Upon arriving the central heating unit in the room did not work. A small freestanding replacement heater had been provided but good service would have been to put the replacement heater on prior to the guests known time of arrival. The room was very cold. A bath was taken. Would have preferred to use the shower but that did not seem to work. A staff member was informed about the shower. 18 December 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay, great location Great stay and a great location with cheap parking only £3 for the night. We had a nice drink in the penthouse although on the expensive side a glass of wine was over £6 it had lovely views over the Hoe. We did request this view when booking online as it asked if we had any preferences but i would not expect to get it as there appearsthey are limited rooms with this view, but this request would have been nice to have been acknowledged even if it was not available. In the evening before leaving for a party we meet friends in the sports bar which was very nice and relaxed. Breakfast was good and enjoyable. I would definalely stay at this hotel again if visiting withi out a doubt. 17 December 2012

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent value. The room was a little cold on arrival but soon warmed up with the heater provided. Very quiet at night, which was good. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good all round Travelling as a family of 4, we opted for a room with 2 double beds. This was very generous in size providing ample space for a travel cot. We rang reception several times for items such as an ironing board, bath robes etc and these were bought to the room promptly. The swimming pool was very warm and clean. Breakfast was nice, a good choice availible. Great location. 08 December 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by another good stay Have stayed in this holiday Inn several times as we stay here when visiting out daughter. The rooms are always clean and well maintained. We took our son this time and had a family room it was huge, we could have slept 6 of us in there and still had room to run around. The only problem I have with this hotel is the tiny parking spaces in the hotel car park I have an estate car and find it difficult to get in we have found that if you arrive late afternoon and park on one of the metres near the front of the hotel, you can park until 10am and even longer if you pay more as your hours paid for roll over to the morning (its free overnight). Would recommend to anyone staying in Plymouth as good value and close to city centre. We often go to the theatre which is within easy walking distance. 07 December 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Family friendly We usually chose to stay at the Plymouth Holiday Inn when in the area visiting family as it is in a very convenient position, both for walks around the Hoe and Barbican, and also for the great shopping centre. The hotel itself is very family friendly, especially in the restaurant, and the bedrooms are large which is useful when using a pushchair. The views from the hotel are also a bonus. The only problem we found was with the underground car park which was built when cars were a little smaller. Next time, we will probably use the overflow car park outside (if not raining!). 01 December 2012

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic location The location of the Holiday Inn is brilliant. The dining room has a wonderful view and the room itself was a good size. However, the bathroom was rather tatty and in need of attention (towel rail wobbly) and very small. There were 3 of us staying in the room and we had to ask for more towels as they had only left enough for 2 people. Despite the pillows being labelled 'soft' and 'firm' there was no discernable difference between them and they were all very hard which led to a very uncomfortable night. Our room was situated near the lifts on the same floor as the Fitness Suite which looked v impressive and great pool. We were woken v early by a crowd of people talking extremely loudly just outside our door by the sofas. Word of warning - my daughter's car was damaged in the car park. #No sign of CCTV# The staff were not particularly helpful and would not give us a copy of the hotel's Insurance Policy - and, of course, the police weren't interested as it was not an emergency. 30 November 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy Room! The hotel is dated and needs a re-furb, We had a full refund as the room we were allocated was next to the lift shaft. The lifts are really noisy when using them, they are in a despatate need of an overhaul. Imagine being in a room next to them all night, they even made the clothes hangers vibrate as they went up and down. After complaining to the duty manager we were given a full refund. The duty manager is aware of this problem as she stated that some customers sleep through the noise! and some complain. Thats alot of use when you have spent a night awake. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not the lifts We have stayed at this hotel twice before and enjoyed it very much. Requested a quiet room away from the lifts, usual preference. What room were we allocated, one next to the lfts which turned out to be very noisy. Did we complain, no we are british! Bathroom so small the cat couldn't fit in it. Conclusion - this was an exective high quality room, so what do you think.Not to be recommended on this experience. 26 November 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Birthday Celebration Three nights stay in November. This was our 2nd stay at this one of our favourite Holiday Inns. We can't fault anything - except maybe the thickness of the carpet areas which are quite hard to push on if you are in a wheelchair! Staff are very friendly & always willing to help. Views are spectacular from the Penthouse Restaurant on the top floor. Location is excellent - turn left for a bracing sea breeze on Plymouth Hoe or turn right for plenty of retail therapy! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn, Plymouth We have stayed at this hotel several times as it is very convenient for theatre visits and also has secure parking. We were a little concerned on this visit because it seemed that things were not quite as they had been. We had a warm welcome from Reception and were offered help to to our room, and this warmth was reflected in the attitude of the staff throughout our stay. They could not have been more helpful, but our room, although perfectly clean, was lacking in several respects: there was no bedside lamp, for example. The lamp on the desk was lacking a bulb. Both these defects were speedily remedied, but then we found one of our bath towels was worn so thin that we could see through it and the bedding also was worn and tired - this in an "executive room". Because of a wedding taking place we were not able to get an evening meal in the restaurant at the time we wanted and we found one bar full of wedding guests and the other far from inviting. Breakfast was lack-lustre: the plates at the hot buffet were cold as was the bacon and the coffee was not very good. All in all, we were disappointed and do hope things will improve before our next visit. 15 November 2012

While we got what one would expect from the Holiday Inn, the fitness complex and swimming pool had a great view from the second floor vantage point. The restaurant is on the top (11th) floor and offers fantastic panoramic views acros Plymouth, although it can only be accessed by elevator, so if you have a fear of them, it is a distinct disadvantage. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Couldn't have been better ! i was on business in plymouth for the first time in many years and so was slightly nervous about what i might find. But i was very pleasantly surprised because the room was good,with a superb view towards the Ho, the gym,although smallish, totally adequate. Every single member of staff i met,from cleaners,reception,bars.restaurant were fantastic in their friendliness,efficiency and all round helpful behaviour. I can say without hesitation that i would recommend the place and i will certainly stay there when in town next. 14 November 2012
