Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Great service, needs more attention to details The front desk people were very helpful, and friendly! They were very polite and greeted me immediately upon entering the facility. We were allowed for early check in, which was nice as we were in town for business and a wedding. The room albeit a bit compact was nice and smelled fresh. Their really was not any room for movement between the bathroom door and the commode making going the bathroom awkward. Then came the hoagie storage container, aka the ice bucket. Where chunks of lettuce, tomato, and onion were stuck to the insides of the container. I went downstairs and talked with front desk associate. His demeanor was very pleasant and proceeded to take the bucket and go on a search for another one. Five minutes later he returned to no avail for another bucket. Other than that the beds were extremely firm, but the pillows were great. Not the best night of sleep but, it worked. Check out was a a very easy process and the associate very pleasant as well. 26 January 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient stay You get more than what you pay for. Nearby car wash is a convenient facility. We left our car on the road side parking and availed Subway for sight seeing. A $30 seven days subway pass is what you need and this was advised by the floor manager at breakfast table. Hotel also has it's paid parking facility. The subway is two minutes away. Breakfast arrangement is superb. 13 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice surprise in an "iffy " neighborhood I grew up in Brooklyn and would not have expected a HI hotel in this area. Pleasantly surprised. Never felt anything but safe. Henry, at the front desk, was great! Parking charge is excessive at $36. I parked on the street with no problems. Great place. I will be back. 13 January 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good stay in Brooklyn We have stayed in this hotel during New Year's Eve for 2 nights, we were not expecting to have such a great time as we had. This hotel is perfectly located in Brooklyn; close to the metro station and in a quiet street. All the amenities and comfort are provided. We've got some troubles with the dog which barkled all night long and nobody reacted when we informed the desk. 06 January 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place To Stay In NYC Clean. Actually, more than clean, immaculate! If the management of this property reads this, they should know that the cleaning job that the staff does on a daily basis here is one of the best I've seen at any hotel property in the numerous places I've been around the world. Generally, the service here was outstanding, from the front desk, to the managers that wander the breakfast area in the moring making sure that the breakfast bar is stocked and clean, and handing out bottled water for the tourists heading out for the day. The service here is top notch, right down to the snappy attire of the managers in their suits and sportcoats--a nice classy touch that I've not seen at a HI Express before. It makes the property "feel" high end. The rooms are small and have a bit of a European feel, but they are comfortable and about what is to be expected size wise in New York City. Parking is tight, but the staff is more than accomodating in trying to make sure that the guest's parking needs are met. Breakfast is standard HI Express fare. The only small (and I stress small) criticism is the elevator. It is very small and, since there is only one servicing the entire property for the guests and the staff, is overtaxed. If there was to be a capitol improvement suggestion for the property, I would suggest improving the speed of the elevator (and quite honestly, something to reduce the jolting feel of the elevator). I doubt a second could be installed, but improvements to the first would be well worth it. I suspect that the neighborhood around this property is on the upswing. Right now, the hotel is about 1/2 block from the edge of the trendy, interesting Brooklyn Park Slope district, and I noticed that this trendy area seems to be creeping toward the hotel. As a result, I would think that within a couple of years, it will be right in the middle of upscale, which will be nice. 06 January 2015

They are attentive, cordial, and very professional. I have referred many people to the hotel, and they have experienced the same quality of service whether they are new to the chain, or platinum members. The responsiveness and service is the same. I will definitely be back to not only this location, but also to other HI hotels, and affiliates. 06 January 2015
