Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Goods and bads! The renovations are good and badly needed. A major deficiency was terrible internet service. Very very slow or unable to connect at all. There was no recognition for IHG Member ... I was handed a bottle of water at check-in if that is considered recognition! 10 April 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by updated remodel of hotel We have visited this hotel many times in the past. It was in need of a remodel. We were pleasantly surprised on this visit to see the updates and found the rooms to be comfortable and clean. The breakfast has been updated also, and was excellent. 07 April 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 is this hotel a joke arriving on a Sunday afternoon everything seemed quiet, although there was evidence of some renovations going on, we managed to drag our bags out of the car and in the back door of the hotel and get checked in, on arrival in our room I found the pillows to be in a terrible state, they had clearly been washed many times, too many times in my view, the life had gone out of them and the pillow cases looked dirty and unironed, I have a medical condition that means I have to sleep almost upright and every time we book any hotel we ask for extra pillows, it has never been a problem before but when I rang the desk to request extra or firmer pillows I was informed that al of their pillows are of a similar quality, so nothing better was available, at this point my friend discovered that there were no towels in the bathroom, we made a quick search to see if they were hidden somewhere, however they were not so I looked into the corridor to find a member of housekeeping still working a few doors up, the man from the room next door to us was at her trolley as he to have no towels, the young lady seemed to have little grasp of the english language so was reluctant to give either of us anything, at this point another lady walked towards us with pillows which I assumed were for me, so I reported the towel problem to her she pushed past me into the bathroom as if she dint believe me, then told me that someone would be along in 45 mins with towels, I told her no, we needed them now as we were due somewhere else, all in all in the end the event we were attending finished around 10pm so we made the desicion t leave and drive the two and a half hours back toLA rather than risk staying there, no one asked why we were checking out early, maybe its a common occurance, certainly the man arriving as we left seemed worried and that was before he even got to his room. 06 April 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rude and disrespectful front desk and manager. We needed a room for at least 3 days while our home was undergoing extensive interior work. We were assured that the room we booked would be available for those three days with an option for two more if needed. After one day, we were abruptly notified that we had to change rooms because the one we were in needed some "work". Since we were going to be out of our home for 3 - 5 days, my wife had brought her sewing machine, misc. attachments, several pieces of fabric and a list of projects she wanted to accomplish. When we were told we had to move, we decided to pack up and go elsewhere, as much because of the discourteous treatment we received as the disruption of our plans. I repeat, the rude and discourteous attitude of the managerial and front desk staff is THE REASON we left. We have stayed in dozens of H.I. Express hotels and enjoyed every one...except this one 05 April 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by going through construction Stayed March 2015 -- This facility is undergoing construction and the parking is very confusing -- poor signage as to where to park, where temporary entrance is. Also, ask where your room is -- we stayed in the room that was right next door to what I assume is the temporary kitchen. Very awkward to be right there with people walking by and hearing the kitchen door open and shut all the time so early. Also the workout room TV did not work and no staff ever came to help me even though I called for help. The wipe dispenser to clean the machines was completely full of dried out wipes. I guess no one ever uses that room! That being said, the breakfast was wonderful and the breakfast staff were very polite and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. Hopefully kinks will be worked out after the construction. 03 April 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Accommodations I, usually, think of a Holiday Inn as a low cost, medium quality hotel/motel. I was very impressed with the Holiday Inn Express in La Mesa, CA. The room was a pleasant surprise. Upscale, clean and comfortable. Better than some hotels at which I have stayed that purport to have a "high quality" image, but do not deliver on that claim. 02 April 2015
