Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Spring Training Adventure We have been guests at this Holiday Inn Express for many years. Our stays have always been very pleasant. This year,, however, we were pleased to find that many changes have come to pass at the HIE at Tampa. The Lobby and Front Desk have been redone. Very up to date. I noticed that guests were spending more time lounging in the lobby, enjoying the tv, and just relaxing. Staff changes have also made a difference in our stay. We even found a delicious bag of goodies in our room as a Welcome Back gift. The pool area and spa have also been updated. It was very guest friendly. I would be amiss if I did not mention all the staff. From Managers to Food service to Maintenance to Housekeeping....all went out of their way to make our stay wonderful! The breakfasts and afternoon cookies and iced tea made all guests feel welcomed. The light dinner fare was just enough to get us through the evening and ready for another beautiful day in sunny Tampa. Can't wait to see what new adventures await us next year. 28 March 2014

When you can find a hotel (with breakfast) that will eradicate all your concerns for parking, getting to your cruise ship, picking you up after the cruise, at a very reasonable price, grab it. We will definitely use this hotel again when cruising out of Tampa. The staff were also very helpful on anything we asked, such as directions etc. Glad we chose this HIE. 27 March 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor service from Front Desk Ref: 65335431. I checked in 3/20 late afternoon. About 7:50 pm, after returning the rental car back to Tampa airport, I called Front Desk for shuttle ride from airport Blue 1 back to hotel and "He" told me need to wait for 30 mins. - OK. - After waiting to 8:25 pm, called Hotel, but was placed on-hold for ~5 mins. - Then finally a gentleman answered. I told him shuttle didn't show up yet. - He said he was the only person there and was too busy, and told me shuttle was on the way. - About 8:35 pm, a shuttle came, but it skipped Blue 1 and went to Blue 2 and didn't come back. - About 8:50 pm, I called Front Desk again, and HE answered and asked me to hold, but wait for >5 mins, before he picked up the phone again. I asked why I needed to wait for so long before anyone answered the call. His answer was "He's the only one here" in an impolite and impatient tone. Also, told me to wait for shuttle. - Luckily, shuttle finally came at ~9 pm. - As back, I told the HE that he should have told me up front if need to wait for an hour. Then I will pay for taxi. His reply "He's the only one here" in a bad manner. - I was so upset I didn't bother to ask for his name. 27 March 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay Very relaxed, lots of freedom using the breakfast area in the evening. This was so nice as we had allot of family. Shuttle service was just awesome. The only thing I feel needs improvement is the front desk. We always got great service but felt bad for the staff behind such a busy desk - they need more help. I would have been pulling my hair out if I was working that desk but whoever was there always treated us so nice. You are very lucky to have such a great staff. For sure would stay there again. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Go Yankees Stayed for one night. Staff were nice though the person at the desk had a little trouble registering us. We were able to walk to Steinbrenner stadium to see the night Yankee game so we could avoid the traffic. The pool was nice and the spa was hot. The room was clean and a good size. It included a refrigerator and a microwave. The room had a slight musty smell when you first walked in. Overall a good hotel and would recommend to anyone. 25 March 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff and service The hotel was booked solid. I managed to personally foul up my reservation a month prior to our check-in date. The General Manager of the hotel informed me that we were reserved for a king-size bed. When I checked my copy of the reservation I could see my error. We were in need of a room with two beds. She handled the problem - got what we needed - all within minutes! We were also invited to a get-together scheduled to take place between 5:30 and 6:30. What a treat! Free soup, salad and beer! The guests could not have been happier! What a great idea for baseball fans, mostly NY Yankees. Great location, so near the Steinbrenner Field! 19 March 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by General Manager....Soraya Upon arrival we found there was some issue with our reservations.The young lady at the desk although helpful and earnest couldn't resolve the issue.We asked to see the manager.A very pleasant young woman named Soraya came to our rescue..Within ten minutes our problem was resolved.For the rest of our trip she was always there making sure we had everything we needed.She seemed to be everywhere not justing addressing our needs but those of all the guests.All we know was she was the General Manager and her name was Soraya.She was an Angel to us,though, and made our trip very pleasant 19 March 2014

You get a bonus what with the hot and cold breakfast buffet and the hospitality reception with free beer and a nice appetizer. Great value for what you get. Although the room had an updated bath, the carpet, linens, and furnishings were worn and unpleasant. It was by far not what I expected for a Holiday Inn Express. It was not close to the airport, and the shuttle wait was very long. I would not select this location again. 17 March 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not bad, but. This Hotel is not that bad. I have been staying here every March for Yankee spring training for a number of years. I think the rooms are in dire need of renovations. The arms of the chair in my room were all worn out, and a little stained. The furniture is early 90's. The TV is OK, but no HD. I usually sit in the little Gazebo thay have next to the pool, but it is in sad shape this year. Two old broken down picnic benches. One was completely broken. It has fallen apart from the rust. What does it take to maybe re paint the floor, and add a few plastic chairs? Again, its not horrible, I just think that management should pay more attention to details. I think that I might stay elsewhere next year. 17 March 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Expected more from Holiday Inn Express I stay at many Holiday Inn Express hotels throughout the year and was disappointed in this property. Our television had a terrible picture, hvac unit in the room didn't work well, and the shower curtain rod was falling off. I took my rental car back to the airport the night before we left and then had to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes for the hotel shuttle to pick me back up. One shuttle was inadequate for the amount they were expected to do. I had to call three times to remind them I was still waiting. The staff was nice enough but way understaffed for the amount they had going on. 12 March 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gold Member ? I know that I am only a Gold member since since 2007. But staff really needs to get a handle on what membership means, loyalty, consistancy. Staff stating that the diner at the end of the driveway is not that bad. Rather than mentioning what I had to read in the book in my room that the shuttle can take me to a better than not so bad location for dinner. Opted to skip dinner rather than encounter the young lady' logic again. I now travel nationwide and will be in LaasVegas Nevada to donate a home to a Veterans and his family then on to Jackson TN. 11 March 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Need more help at desk We checked in at 10:00pm on 2/28/14, and the lady at the desk was answering phone calls, administering to the ones purchasing items from the snack bar, and also checking me in. There was a line of 3 others behind me. When there is a big event, more staff would be better. It was also difficult to keep track of the keys since a piece of paper was wrapped around them, and they were falling to the ground. A little envelope would be great. Thank you. 10 March 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This Hotel is in need of serious updating The room we stayed in had stains in the carpet and on the lounging chair ottoman. The carpet is so very worn. The room was grungy and we would not stay here again. The staff was nice but that doesn't make up for the room conditions. The shuttle to the airport was filthy and had a cracked windshield. 08 March 2014

Granite floors in bathroom slippery and so was bath tub was also slippery and had no safety mat. Ive stayed at a lot of holiday inn express hotels and this one is the one with most issues I've encountered. 07 March 2014

Only downfall was they are upgrading rooms and we got a non updated room so our bed was uncomfortable. But others in our group had brand new beds and were happy. 05 March 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Shuttle Landed at 8:15 pm. Called hotel. No answer. Called hotel again. No answer. Called IHG direct. They call hotel and finally get an answer. Connects me to hotel. Hotel will send shuttle right over. 45 minutes later. No shuttle. Call hotel. No answer. Call hotel again. Get answer and they say he will be right there. 30 minutes later shuttle picks me up. Drops a group he had in the shuttle off at a restaurant. We than go pick someone else up at another restaurant. Driver drives like a maniac. Other people in Van ask him to slow down and drive more safely. 10:30 pm arrive at hotel. No welcome Mr. Tobin. Nothing. Here is your key. Weak at best. Worst Holiday inn express ever. 03 March 2014
