City
Cancun is located in the state of Quintana Roo, on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. It is divided into two areas: Hotel Zone, between the lagoon and the sea, and downtown Cancun.
Traditional eating
Modern Mexican cuisine is the result of the fusion of two cultures: Pre-Hispanic and Spanish. The Xtabentum is the traditional drink served in Cancun and is a liqueur made in Yucatan, from rum, aniseed and honey produced by bees from the nectar of Xtabentun flowers.
Moving around Cancun
You can take the regular bus to move around the Hotel Zone and downtown any time of the day. It is safe and cheap. The bus drivers are very friendly and will help you to find your stop.
WHAT TO PACK

If you are planning to bring your cellular phone, do not forget your charger. In Mexico we have 110 watts in electricity.
Clothing and accessories
We recommend you wear insect repellent if you take a tour to any of the eco-theme parks, archaeological sites and caverns. You should use biodegradable sunscreen at the eco-theme parks. Be aware of the rainy season from June to November and that Cancun has a very warm and humid climate. Make sure to bring light clothing to wear during day time as well as formal clothing for the evening as it might be requested at some restaurants or discos.
