Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff We have stayed at the Carlton for over 30 years and this was probably our best trip ever. The minute we arrived at reception we got a wonderful welcome and this continued throughout our visit. The concierge was so helpful choosing restaurants before and during our stay. Of course, Roberto is still an amazing maitre de of the beach restaurant along with his staff. Although you were very busy the service on the bar was good (something that in the past we were not sure about). Although sometimes it was difficult to find a seat on the bar. We loved the gin and tonics, they were rather expensive. Breakfast is good – maybe could be improved a little. Our room was adequate, I think some updating is due. I must thank you for a wonderful time, the Carlton and Cannes can’t be beaten and we both look forward to our next holiday in Cannes. 19 June 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great beginning My wife and I stayed at the InterContinenal Carlton Hotel in Cannes, France for 3 days prior to a river cruise on the Rhone. The hotel was absolutely fantastic. Our room was on the first floor looking out at the Mediterranean just across from us. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had breakfast each morning out on the terrace which was a great way to start the day. Being centrally located gave us the opportunity to explore the restaurants and shops. After our 3 days it felt as if we had already experienced a full vacation and were sorry to leave. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. 16 June 2014

Beside all the wonderful experience of the excellent location, big size room, gourmet food and atmosphere, the concierges team is the one we want to give our special thanks: (1) They recommend us to visit the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat area, and we did. It was one of the best day we had in our trip to south France. (2) For the anniversary night, they recommended the Le Mas Candille restaurant, and helped with the reservation and taxi. We had a wonderful dining experience enjoy the sun set view of the valley while we appreciated the meal in this Michelin star restaurant. 16 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Incredible luxury experience Everything was amazing ! The hotel is very luxury. From the moment you walk in there is so helpful and very accommodating staff. In addition Concierge are very knowledgable on local restaurants and visits. The room was very spacious, really large bed that is incredibly comfortable. I enjoyed the amazing sea view! I think the best we can have in Cannes! The bathroom is also very confortable and functional with bath tube and shower. I particularly appreciated the delicious buffet breakfast on the terrace, the staff was once again very professional and helpful. I will definitely come back and stay in this hotel. 16 June 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful 5 start hotel with poor broadband ! This is my 3rd stay at the Carlton. My 2nd with my son. We had a wonderful week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay bar a couple of issues. 1. The free broadband does not allow FaceTime to work which is essential for my business...hence I spent Mon to Thursday struggling with an intermittent connection. On Thursday night I asked to be put on the 25€ per day. I spent half an hour in reception with 3 very helpful staff at the concierge who were unable to help. I returned Friday morning and waited half an hour for the IT managers assistant to come to speak to me. He was very helpful but his English was as good as my French so eventually his manager said he would connect me to the €25 BB. SUCCESS .....but only for Friday after which it wouldn't work at all ! I gave up as was losing my holiday attempting to connect BB ....however after I had checked out at Reception on Monday morning suddenly it worked for an hour ! This was difficult for me not to have BB because I need to keep in touch with my property interests at home and disappointing for your hotel ....I did not have this problem on previous stays. 2. On our last night we noted that the room had been cleaned but no tissues/toiletries replenished....also the mini bar was also not replenished. I think because it was our last night standards were not up to their usual 5 stars ! I have noticed this before and also in other hotels. The beach is fantastic and staff very good....FRANCOIS very pleasant and helpful. Overall we had a great holiday and hopefully will return. 10 June 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 5 star lobby, 1 star rooms The façade and lobby of the hotel are beautiful but the rooms are a major letdown. Despite being an IHG platinum member I was assigned a small room at the back of the hotel with a view of the parking lot. The hotel manager assured me that there were no sea view rooms but a quick check on the hotel website revealed plenty of availability. The manager did "upgrade" me to an "executive" room that merely had a small desk in the tiny room. He gave me a "basket of fruit" which consisted of three apples. The rooms are shabby and depressing. On a positive note, the location is excellent and the facilities are good. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless they are willing to spend top dollar on the sea view rooms and not rely on their top tier status in the IHG program in the hopes of getting an upgrade. The IHG policy of upgrading if rooms are available is misleading as it was clear that there were rooms free. 09 June 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor service We were made to wait for more than hour to heck in even after the regular check in time. Even after being an ambassador member of the intercontinental hotel programme this is the last thing you expect. I would definitely not recommend his particular property after seeing other guests being given rooms in spite of them not being a part of any intercontinental programme. However, if any one insists on staying in this particular hotel Then you better book for one extra day to be guaranteed room on time or else you got to wait for few hours even after a regular check in time. 05 June 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful, but not worth it I stayed at the Cannes Carlton for 5 nights recently with a group. One thing that is important for people looking to book is that there are two types of rooms, those that have been upgraded and those that haven't. Mine hadn't and I thought the hotel was really mediocre because of it, but I visited a friend's room and his was much nicer. So ask when you book. The prices for food is inexcusably outrageous. At the bar a Coca-Cola was 11 euros ($15 USD)! That's nuts when it can be had at the shop on the corner for 1 euro. All food and beverage was similarly priced. So expect to go out to eat for cheaper and better food. The location is great, of course and the hotel itself is really beautiful. You pay extra for the use of their beach. The really worst part of my stay was when I was taking a nap and was 30 minutes into it and got a call asking when the do not disturb sign would be taken off of my door. I'd just put it there 30 minutes before! What's the point of a DND if they're going to disturb me? I wouldn't recommend the place unless you get a great deal, an upgraded room, and plan to eat elsewhere. 15 May 2014

The staff were always helpful and available whenever you needed them. The hotel was perfect in every way! The only downside was the food in the bar and restaurants seemed to be priced extremely high. 14 May 2014

If I can notice that all hotels are constantly improving their comfort, they often do it in the same line : more good quality products, more services. But at the Carlton Cannes Hotel, you have one more thing : THE SOUL. The staff brings you more than the service you can expect in such a place, he also brings you something indescribable that makes your feeling the history of this incredible hotel. This one has seen more celebrities than any other hotels in the world and may be, when you will enter in a room, you will feel this soul. Did I sleep in the Alfred Hitchcock or Harrison Ford room ? I will never know... But life is a succession of experiences and I wouldn't miss this one ! Thank you again... 09 May 2014

As a hotelier myself I can say this hotel is a real example of how a couple can enjoy the stay and spend a great time and its all together from comfortable bed to an amazing shower to the breakfast. On May 2th my sweet "Chérie" Mélanie turned 27. She had no clue we would spend the weekend in Cannes at the Hotel. It was a very nice surprise for her. Without knowing anything about this event, Nathalie (who checked us in) announced we had been "upgraded" to a finer room. After checking in, Nathalie took us to the room and while presenting it she noticed the bathroom had no shower. Considering the fact that Mélanie is in a wheelchair, Nathalie offered straight away to find an other room which could be more appropriate. We accepted and 5 minutes later she was back, tacking us to our new room, just next door. In our conversation, the reason why we were in Cannes came out... ... When we came back from our afternoon "walk"... an other surprise was waiting for Mélanie : A delicious strawberry cake saying "Joyeux Anniversaire" and a bottle of Champagne. A Lovely attention... Of course i can't mention everyone... but it is for sure Everyone who i wish to warmly Thank for making of this surprise a great one ! À bientôt... Xavier E. 06 May 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service in a hotel full of history and luxury We stayed five nights in Carlton. It was our first time in Carlton, but for sure not the last. We will be back for the Cannes Film Festival in May. Had only planned to stay two nights in Carlton. But we got so thrilled with the breathtaking view of the Bay of Cannes from our suite and the excellent service that we prolonged our stay with three nights. We have stayed in many luxury hotels around the world over the years. The service in Carlton is world class and ranks among the best we have experienced. This goes for all kind of hotel services from arrival to departure - concierge, reception, room service, housekeeping, restaurant. Staff was very efficient and polite. Before our stay in Carlton we stayed two nights in Hotel Grand Hyatt Martinez and one night in Hotel Majestic Barriere. The overall service level in Carlton was number one. The service level in especially hotel Martinez was also very high. Luxury and excellent service comes of course with a price, which we found to be fair in Carlton on a price/quality ratio basis. The breakfast in Carlton was of good quality. But e.g. a selection of Japanese food items like sushi and miso soup would make it even better and for sure be highly appreciated by many hotel guests. Carlton offers a very good lunch buffet in their beach restaurant for around 50 euro. 16 April 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Well Past Its Prime I've been staying at the Carlton for business 2x a year for the past 20+ years. The property is in grave need of renovation and should be decomissioned as an Intercontinental until they completely renew the property. The staff tries their best (although leaves something to be desired in room cleanliness) but can't begin to compensate for seriously worn out rooms, peeling paint, and very dated everything else. The public spaces are just fine and the Beach Restaurant remains unaffected. Unfortunately for those doing convention business in Cannes the premiere choices are limited, but I can't imagine a leisure traveler ever voluntarily staying here. 13 April 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Delight Staying at the Carlton is a delight. Most of the staff have been there for many years and the (remarkable) Concierges and Front Desk staff are helpful in all matters. I have yet, in the course of many visits, to find a single staff member who is not cheerful, efficient and up to speed with local knowledge and advice (not all that common an experience in many international hotel chains these days). At peak times getting a drink on the Terrace can occasionally take a few minutes. That happens everywhere but, in this case in particular, who cares? Relax, you are on a terrace overlooking the passing parade and the sea in the south of France. For those visiting for the first time it may be helpful to note that the rooms facing the ocean are wonderful but there is traffic and early morning street cleaner noise (and sometimes parties) if you like sleeping with the windows open. The side rooms are much quieter and very spacious although, of course, they don't have the view. But then that's why you have those drinks on the Carlton Terrace. Just one tiny comment: if you are coming with multiple devices that need to be plugged in, best to bring a double adaptor. The rooms are rather short of extra sockets. 13 April 2014
